Hi, Im pretty new to the reloading world. I have primers and powder to try, but am looking for some help with bullet suggestions. I just purchased a Sake 85 finnlight in 300 WSM. I would like to use this for deer/elk hunting and shooting at steel to 1000y. It has a 1:11 twist, so I will stick with heavier bullets 180 and higher. Can someone recommend a bullet that would be good for hunting and long range accuracy? I have some 200gr ELDX factory rounds I will play with but would like to find a bullet that is maybe better and works for both.

Maybe try Berger 208 hybrid. In stock at powder valley. Same jacket as the 215. Same G7 also. IMG_2630.PNG
I would think it'll work on elk. But I haven't tried it.

I am new to hand loading for the 300 wsm as well (have hand loaded for 308,270 and 30-06 for couple years now).for my 300 wsm which is a browning abolt 2 .I've got loads for the 185 classic hunters 152 grain hammer hunters and 178 eldx these are the bullets I've had best of luck with so far.im messing around with 165 seirra tip game kings and 165 sst right now but so far the first three bullets I talked about have been the best so far and I will be hunting with this year.hope this helps

1:11 is a pretty slow twist. You'll be capped at around 180-195gr bullets. Your 200gr ELD-X for instance recommends a minimum 1:10 twist, as do the previously mentioned berger 208 hybrids. You might be able to get away with using the berger 200 gr hybrid target bullets but I would probably recommend sticking with the 180gr elite hunter or the 160 gr hammer hunter.

An old friend has a very accurate 300 WSM shooting the Berger 185VLDH. I've watched him kill deer, elk and a nice antelope 200-550 yds. The 185 is at the max weight bullet for that 1:11 barrel. Saw the 185 Berger's today at Bruno Shooters Supply. Good luck, especially finding quality powder and quality brass.

I started buying powder and primers about 4 years ago, then had kids and haven't had time to learn to reload. I have about 24lbs of different powders and 14k primers. I have H4350 and Fed 215m to start with. I found brass in stock at a few place so Ill pick some up. Just overwhelmed with the bullet choices!

I would say buy an assortment of bullets in the 180-200gr range and see what your gun likes. I shoot a tikka w/ a 1:11 twist and it shoots the 200gr ELD X absolutely lights out. Lots of people swear by Berger, others really like Sierra. Every gun shoots everything a little different. Make take a little experimenting, but you'll find something that fits the bill

Have about 200 180 grain Sierra Gamekings through my T3 and have given me excellent consistent shot after shot different lot# to lot# accuracy and have killed a few doe's and they performed very well also. All shots were under 100yrds so far. All were bang flop DRT. Also got great accuracy using using 180 and 200 NAB and NBT, but have as yet to kill anything with them.

Truthfully, the 180 grain NBT shoot superbly, best of all giving consistent 5 shot .5 moa or smaller groups.
And all my Nosler bullets are factory seconds.
Found best results with IMR 4831. Getting just a hair over 2900 for best accuracy. Did manage to get above 3kfps fps but accuracy and was more consistent at 2900ish with all bullet types and weights.
