Hammer Bullets and Hyper Velocity, The Misconception

I've been considering trying Hammers for a couple of months. For 308 Winchester, 6.5 CM and 243 Winchester. I'm running a Barnes ttsx 80gr in Lapua brass, IMR4064 39.5 gr lit with CCI primers at a little over 3400 fps. Accuracy is great. Haven't used this load on game yet. I have no experience with monolithic bullet's. I can definitely see the allures of it though.

Why is it all the negative reviews on any bullet are always with elk 🤣

Because any bullet can kill a corn fed whitetail at 100 yards...elk separate the boys from the men.

I'd like to see the recovered bullet from the elk above, something doesn't sound right. I find it hard to believe the Hammer didn't penetrate.

Is that load in the .243?

I had a challenge with Hammer Hunter last week…260 gr 338 NM 2850 fps, 70 yds. Good sized 6x6 bull elk, two solid broadsides shots - one more in the shoulder the other a little behind should. Bull ran approx 500 yd…third shot further back hit liver. Upon autopsy, first two shots didn't penetrate chest cavity, sent small fragments into on side lung. May be isolated event but concerning. Fortunately recover bull.
What's the twist rate in that rifle ?

There has been a ton of discussion on Hammers and Hyper Velocity and it has confused some folks into thinking that Hammers will not work at conventional speeds when they will, This is a post from my Brother from down under explaining this. And a bit of background on the man he has probably killed more animals than all of us combined ( I'm not exaggerating ) and I would not doubt that he has tested every bullet on the planet, I hope this clears the water a bit

I made a mistake in my opening post that was very crucial that Turtle556 pointed out ( Thank You ) it's too late to edit so i fixed it here, All Apologies

I agree, something is amiss
Post intended to purely provide recent observation…not to disparage a particular bullet. Sure is something amiss. The two shoulder wounds created softball sized pockets in the onside shoulder. Bullet fragments in shoulder and as said in onside lung.
