My brother and I are heading to Pagosa Springs CO for 2nd rifle DIY so any help welcome?!
This is my first late season rifle hunt. If it's anything like early season archery, be prepared to cover a lot of ground and go where others aren't willing to go. Study the maps hard! And mostly, enjoy it!

Black Mountain and Jackson Mountain depending on weather Warm climb, cold lower and find food sources.
Any idea how late the rut is in SW Colorado? Love to hear a bugle and not from someone in a pick up.

You'll be just across the divide from where I'm going. From what I've read, the rut will be over by then. It's typically during mid to end of September. I've been lucky enough to take a few bulls with archery gear in Mid September. Calling them in while they're bugling, hooking trees and pawing at the ground and kicking up shovel fulls of dirt! It's pretty crazy!
