I've been using bore tech for years and sweets 7.62 before bore tech was released. I have no reason to try anything else over the bore tech carbon remover. I haven't found anything better than their copper remover either but I've never used JB bore paste. For those of you who have used both... How does the use of JB bore paste compare to bore tech copper remover. Is there situations where it would be necessary/beneficial or save time to used both?

I've used both, and strongly prefer the JB bore paste. BTW, RemClean (or whatever the current name is) is the same mild abrasive as in JB, only suspended in oil instead of grease. I have a high quality bore scope, and can confirm that I get a quick, thorough cleaning using JB or RemClean and my regular technique. With the Bore Tech or Sweets, you are waiting for the color to go away (or drying and repeatedly checking with bore scope) to know when you have removed all or most of the jacket fouling. To each his own, I guess. -Ed

Thanks for the info!

I love the Boretech CU 2+ for getting copper out. It just comes out on the patches I run through and they are all blue.
If I have a rifle I have not copper cleaned for 400-500 rounds, I plug the muzzle end, and pour it in for a soak of 15 minutes.
Those barrels shine like silver after a few patches. Borescope pictures attached below show the proof.

I believe in Boretech CU 2+

Montana Extreme works too, but smells really bad due to the ammonia content.

I use boretech regularly but if not clean THEN jb

I have heard that more rifle barrels are ruined by improper cleaning than wearing it out shooting it.
L.Sherm can elaborate on that.
Thats why I try hard to scrub the barrel with carbon cleaners and copper removers before using caustic or sandpaper like pastes.
I have a can of JB Bore Paste I have had for years but on occasion I use it when nothing else can get the carbon out.
A neighbor had a rifle so caked with carbon it protected the copper. It took 2 days to get that rifle clean as a pen.
As far as copper solvents and carbon cleaners go we have never had it so good, many good products out there.
