Chargemaster Link vs 1500

I'm buying an electronic powder thrower and have an interesting question. With the new link models coming out, the 1500 price is dropping quickly. With them being within $30 of each other, is the newer technology Link model any better a thrower than the 1500 which has more adjustability? Is the basic Chargemaster Lite with Link a better option than the modded 1500. Are there any better options in the $300-$350 range?

Ive never used the 1500 but I do have the Lite. Ive used it for a few years now and have shelved it. I find it has an accuracy of .1 gr and this means it could be off by as much as .2 gr if it goes .1 high or low.. I checked it with a scale with a .02 gr resolution and it was off by .08 on many throws. I've gone back to my thrower and trickler. It might be interesting to try the match master version which is supposed to have .04 accuracy.

Just a tip to be more accurate on the chargemaster's. Add a trickler to the process and set your charge at .1 grains shy of desired weight. Trickle charge from there waiting slightly in between each drop to insure it registers the weight. Doing it this way, I'm generally within 0 -.04 grains of my AutoTrickler readings.

If you have a balance beam scale, you can run your charge within a grain or half grain on the chargmaster, then trickle on the beam until desired weight. When I first purchased the Chargmaster, I verified with my balance beam scale and it was dead on each time. Then I changed powders and tried it again and it was off by .5 to 1.0 grain each throw, I could never get it back to same weight on the balance beam scale. So, I just do what I suggested and finish it on the balance beam.

Nothing fancy on this end. I just use the RCBS and Redding tricklers by hand. I set mine on the unit right over the top of the bubble level.

I went ahead and ordered the 1500. With the mods it appears to be the one to beat for under $400.
