7mm-08 Nosler 140gr Ballistic Tip or Accubond

Has the OP had a chance to test these?
I imagine All are good choices.

In my 20" 7mm-08 I have used plenty of 120 Nosler BT on pigs and foxes inside 100 as the little rifle is great from the car.

The only Blow-up I have seen was a 168gn Hornady Z-Max on a Boar shoulder at about 25 metres. Same bullet same day I head shot at 100 was DRT , I expect at near on full muzzle velocity any BT might be explosive, particularly on a Boar shoulder shield.

I haven't used Barnes but I did source some Barnes for my brother's .308 so we could reduce the recoil in a light rifle, for all I have read they Barnes are tough. I wonder if you might experience pass through pencil holes at close range with Barnes.

I like my Noslers but the Hornady 139gn SP certainly worked in factory ammo.

I use Nosler Partition and AB 130s for Deer and 150s for Moose. My 270win shots sub-MOA with them all.

Good to know, I have a couple of boxes of 120gr BT's but have never loaded any.

Can I talk you out of a box ?

The 120 Barnes in the 7-08 is deadly. Drops whitetails just fine and it is brutal on hogs. I load it now but out of the box it was super accurate in my Model 70 and factory velocity is excellent. All I use in the .08

My Tikka 7-08 shoots the Barnes 120's sub moa in factory load also. I handload for the 140 AB's and 120 BT's. What powder do you use with the Barnes 120's with your loads?

I have a Rem 700 in 7mm08 and shoot the 140 gr Accubond and Partition with 41.0 grains of H4895. I load each bullet the same and use the AB for whitetail and the Partition for pigs. The AB shoots a .5 to .750 group (depending on how much coffee I drink) while the Partition is a little over an inch. There are 4 hunters in the family and this combo is the family favorite out to 150 yds. We have never had issues with fragmentation, loosing game or not finding a blood trail. As long as you have good shot placement, they are DRT.

I am using varget. I used some interlock 139's and 4064 and it shot well too. I may also try blc(2) and see how it groups. Barnes suggests Varget as most accurate.

We need to get some of those loads to the Tigers! Love the partitions but can't get them to group sub moa. Thanks

The ballistic tips will work fine. I shoot 150's in a 7 mag no issues with bullet blow up. For those ranges you really dont need an accubond on deer size game. Fyi the 120 is a great bullet. The jacket was hardened for silhouette shooters trying to nock over rams at distance.

I have not used BT's since late 90's but harvested many deer and hog using older120's and 140's in my .280 BAR. I thought someone had told me they made improvements by making them harder. The older ones were similar to grenades if hitting bone, etc. I switched to AB's with 7-08 and always experimented with other bullets. Began trying Hammers recently but have been primarily a Nosler shooter 30+ years. Bullets are like cartridges which hunters/shooters have their favorite or their rifle's favorite. More than a few quality Bullets around. Still enjoy trying new ones but it's great to have those "go to" proven ones that rarely let you down. Great talking about the 7mm family! Thanks again!

I totally agree with you. I have some loads that shoot exact powder and amount with 120 BT's and 140 AB's. IMR 4350 works well in mine.
