50 caliber muzzleloader bullets

I had very good luck with the .40cal 200gr SST/Shockwave (same bullet). The 325gr FTX intended for the 45-70 also works very well and is tougher at the expense of higher recoil and needing to source sabots separately. Any of the black powder subs you can find will work. I'm still working on an old supply of Triple Seven.

Write the same question in the muzzleloader forum. I am certain several guys will offer suggestions there. They may not see the question here.

For powder shooting blackpowder subs I would only use Blackhorn 209. Cleaner and you will get more velocity per grain. Only downside is it only comes in loose power. The advantage to that is you can weigh every charge for consistency, which is what I do. There is some good load info on there website.
For bullets there are a ton of good ones. I personally stick with 300 grains. I have shot Hornady SST, regular XTPs, Parkers, Harvester Scorpion PT golds.
Personally I have found good accuracy between 70 and 77 grains of Blackhorn by weight (100-110 by volume) and a good balance between speed and recoil.
