New, to me, McMillan TAC-50

They allow for more distance than I will ever find to shoot! And you certainly won't regret buying it....your cheeks will thank you everytime you pull the trigger
I am thinking that the Valdada might be good for me. I have problems getting low enough because of my high cheek bones...........I may be related to Senator Pocahontis.??

OK, no rewsponse there so how about, anyone on here own a McMillan TAC-50?
Hmmm....I stay with Barretts. Have the full rainbow of colors in M107A1...all 29". (Never understood the 20"....not for clearing rooms , want all the MV possible for those long shots.) About 1MOA with 750gr A-tip. Your McM may be a little more accurate but slamming 10 rounds down range in under 5 seconds is a HOOT!!!! And, NOBODY wants to be downrange of that HOWDY!!!!!.

Haven't messed with the tac 50 but did have a ALS 50 bmg single shot and it was a very nice and accurate rifle. Had great luck with 215-225 grains of H 50 bmg powder under a 750 grain amax

Kicked like a 243 but you would go home with a headache after 10 or so rounds from the concussion off the brake.

Had a 50 moa base and could get full advertised elevation travel out of a gen 1 vortex razor hd.

I sold that rifle and bought a used G.A Precision built 338 lapua on a Surgeon xl action and don't regret it.

338LP is much fun. While still have several including conversion for MRAD, I've moved to 338Norma in Barrett MRAD MK22, preferring to LM. Can shoot the .50BMG 660gr ball for about 1/3 338LM for plinking, S&Gs. 1000 rds 660gr in bound at $3.20/rd landed.

Yeah I was able to reload api in military brass with 20mm Vulcan powder for $1.17 a round for 50 bmg. And can reload 338 lapua with blem Peterson brass and blem 250 gr matchkings and 20mm Vulcan powder for $1.50 and get decent accuracy out of the 338.

That's impressive cost savings. Earlier, cost savings were major driver to reload. In old age, cost savings not worth the heartbeats. Money replensihable resource; heartbeats not. Priorities change. Reload only for maximum accuracy, but even that is taking back seat as my shooting isn't what it once was....store bought eyes, coordination, steadiness, paying the piper for yesteryear "Hold my beer, and watch this" indiscretions. Shoulda listened to Dad, "Don't jump out of planes that are still airborne." Youth is squandered on the young.....enjoy.....and appreciate....while you can. Old too soon; smart too late. :) :) :)

You cant be that old. I turn 85 on 3 Sept. Eyes were fixable, but my ears are not. Too many hours flying prop planes with the side window open. They didnt worry about hearing back in those days. But maybe that is a blessing with 50 cal LOL. One nice thing about getting older is getting heavier so you can stand the recoil better.......

3.25 per 750 gr ATIP alone here in Canada...but our butt wipe Prime Minister is taking care of that for us....banned the gun!

Old is relative for everyone, much depending on how one may have squandered early heartbeats. Piper calls his due in for those breaks, smashes, crushes. :) :) Caution, that 50 will take any remaining hearing. Great comment about being our own "Lead Sled"........rethinking hot fudge sundaes. :) :) :)

I just closed the deal on a McMillan TAC-50. Its an older one with a single shot bolt that feeds from behind.
What does the name Fisher mean in front of the serial number??
I have no idea what the name fisher means unless it was initially built for him.
