Rebarrel a Christensen or sell?

I'm going to have to try it. What would I check to know if it's the scope?

Install a known good scope from you or a friend and try shooting a few groups to see if it's different.

Vortex don't like to be torqued over 13 inch pounds. I've argued with vortex for friends, each time it's been a vortex issue. Scopes always went back and had some issue resolved. Definitely mount a different scope, that's currently going to give you the fastest explanation.

I think I'm gonna have to try this. I really want to like the Christensen

Does it have a muzzle brake on it ? I have seen several mesas that would not shoot with the muzzle brake on but take it off and things really changed

It does have the factory radial brake on it. I haven't heard about the brake causing issues yet. I will have to try that as well as a different scope to see.

I had 2 mesas in 300 win we could not get to shoot worth a dang as soon as we took the brake off of the one the groups came right in to under an inch did the same to the other gun and had the same results

I went by the book with my first razor till the scope started slipping. I do all quality scopes to 25 lbs. Never had an issue. Just how I do it folks but that 13 lbs is garbage in my opinion. Yes all quality components. My 2 cents.

Just a thought, but my 308 target rifle groups will start opening up when I get carbon build up in the neck area just in front of the case. I take a bronze brush and scrub the heck out if the neck area till I don't get anymore black on a cleaning patch, then it is right back to shooting great.

I too have had a brake effect accuracy.
I made a spanner wrench to take mine off so as not to damage the brake and with a bore scope (cheap Teslong bore scope) I looked inside and saw a tiny shinny spot where the bullet touched the brake.Mine was an older rifle and don't like brakes anyway so I got a threaded piece to thread on the barrel to test and and got pretty good accuracy so I ditched the brake altogether.Check that.
Your rifle is new and you should contact the maker and see what they want to do.

Clean the gun good and try a different scope. I do sweets then I follow up with carbon bore tech. Carbon I have found will cause some issues.

one other thing. The break should be cleaned also. being a 308 there should be a certain clearance between the bullet diameter and the break opening. If the break fouls easy and that opening is reduced it will cause accuracy issues.
probably not it but it worth checking to see if the clearances are correct.

a quick seach on google seam most brakes are oversized .020 to .030 thou over bore size. Seems .020 is the minimum with most going above .030 over bore size.

and it seems some from the factory have been installed tight. Easy check on dirtyest level and size. Maybe take brake off and shoot.

Try the things that have been mentioned above first...Then, if that doesn't work either sell it or just rebarrel it.
Sadly, Christensen Arms has had a issue with accuracy or may I should say inconsistency from rifle to rifle. Some shoot lights out and the next one, well, maybe not.

A .308 shot out? Get the chamber barrel scoped. +4" sounds like a bedding or scope base to receiver issue. If you can't tell it might be worth the expense to have a professional gunsmith examine it BEFORE you do something you'll regret later.

Hello good people, that sounds like the best start with the scope. Have you tried to put it in a gun vise of some sort lock into place and fire several shots putting it back on point of aim each time you should see a group without trying to line up the scope. Will give you a idea .

Put a known good scope on it. I groups tighten up you know the scope is bad. If it stays the same you know it is something other than the scope. I would also check headspace or have it checked. A little too much headspace can drive you nuts trying to get consistent accuracy. Someone may have sold the rifle due to the problem you are having.

4"... you need to put glass on it your confident in and confirm. Vortex is meh... I have plenty of experience, not bashing.. I've come to the conclusion of razor or pass... Doubt you can sell a rifle to another dude that's good with 4 moa groups at 100.....

Agree 100% I would bet on scope, try another brand. Im not happy with vortex as of late
