New vortex 4.5-22x50 razor hd lht

I too have been looking at the 3-15. Interested to hear everyone's thoughts on durability.

If you build it, I will fall...

Clumsy and a trainwreck in the woods anymore.

Parkerized makes a point that I'm not sure he knew he made. These optics makers have a total bs marketing scheme going on.

They tell you what they want, name it whatever they want and price it what ever they want. We accept a lot of terms that cannot be compared. They ought to hold themselves to listing accuracy of turrets to a percentage at x adjustment. They should also have a common brightness, sharpness, clarity and color index number that you can guide your purchase with.

I honestly think they do this because they get the optical equation wrong somehow and have too much money invested to back out.

It is all a balance color, clarity, sharpness, turrets accuracy, features, price. When they try to do it all, a lot of money is on the line.

This scope looks sweet….How do they get it to 20oz? Somebody has to answer that question before I drop that much money on it. Looks cool, but how did it get to 20oz? What doesn't it do as well?

Where I differ, is I'm anxious to see the reviews. Designs improve. Change is good. Vortex has blown the market away before.

If you have the time, go watch the video I posted. So here is what the optical engineer in that video has said. 1 the magnification range. It isn't a 4.5-28 like the March is for a reason, weight. 2 The eye piece design and field of view. The field of view is average for a reason, less complicated eye box design not trying to get a large FOV. 3 No fast focus eye piece design. The locking diopter design in this scope doesn't put any extra parts into the eye piece. 4 Not as many frills as on a tactical scope. No rotation indicator. Small and capped windage turret. If anything fails on these new models I think it will be the illumination acting up.

This scope isn't any different dimensionally from a vx6hd 3-18x50 same length, tube diameter, obj diameter, and weighs one ounce less. So how'd they get it this light? That was the sole objective I am sure, build the lightest ffp higher mag range scope possible, second priority was likely glass quality/low light capability. The physical controls likely 3rd. Having already brought forth the HD lht 3-15 they had an excellent design to start with that was already extremely light. I personally believe every manufacturer could build a very light ffp hunting scope, vortex was the first and will likely sell a lot of these.

It will be interesting to see - a lot of people have been vocal about the 'need' for this scope. Don't get me wrong, I am interested myself, but I think the actual market for this particular product is a niche, and could be significantly smaller than it appears amongst hardcore enthusiasts online.
This is a common problem. People create their own world where they are convinced everyone wants something because 50 people online and them do.

I think this has a shot, tbh I think better than a 4-16 AMG would that people claimed they really wanted. Especially with the popularity of Instagram esk hunting/long range hunting.

Good point…everyone's needs are different. It's got to be hard to a make general purpose scope that hits all the right features vs weight vs durability.

The razor amg has a pretty poor track record for parallax problems, lots of warranty issues. It's a good scope however when 100%. I have heard of very few HD lht warranty issues. I had my 3-15 atop a 6.2# braked 300wsm pushing 200+ grain bullets over 2850 and recoil is pretty sharp, for several hundred rounds. Not a single problem.
