What does an extra 200 ft a second provide a bow hunter? Invent a bow that does not make a sound during release or one at 1100 ft a second out to a 100 yards. Then $3500 would be a bargain.

Maybe it has a Night force scope on it ?

Some guys can't hunt with a vertical bow.
I took a guy out last year that has a disabled license due to a back injury. He has a Ravin and can use it during archery and rifle season. He was shooting like a 3" group at 100 yards with it.
I'm a vertical bow guy but I've got a Scorpyd 480 and it definitely is a beast. Xbows have come a long way in the past several years. It's given some kids I take hunting more opportunity to harvest deer that likely wouldn't been a possibility with a lesser bow. I bet it's a sweet shooter if it's like some of the other Ravins I've seen.
I did and got the R500 E sniper model plus also waiting for my Burris Oracle X laser range finding scope. I work 70-80 hours a week so it doesn't drain the bank account.

Exactly. The only difference on whitetails between a 280fps compound and a 500fps compound is you can get a bad hit further. I've been told mule deer and elk don't jump the string so bad but I've only gun hunted those. A 500fps crossbow just has to be loud, making it worse. Really quiet and slow is better for whitetails than loud and fast.
With quite a bit less bolt drop it actually improves your chances of a lethal shot and at that speed by the time an animal reacts the bolt will have already passed through them!

I say keep that crossbow at the store at the store I thought this was a long range shooting form shooting form I didn't realize you could reload crossbows with bullets I didn't spend all the money I have invested in to reloading so that I could spend $3500 on a crossbow it's on a crossbow that's more money than 2 of my rifles If I don't spend a lot of money on my arrivals when I can spend the money making custom ammo that makes them shoot well

Not 3500 for that Ravin. But i did spend over 4k for my 10 pt vapor rs 470 package, scope special custom arrows, a few new heads and target.
Love it and worth every penny.
A war story.
In 1981I was invited to hunt on a section down by TexMex border. It was one of those rare cold days that far south. O dark 30 I was on the field, on the ground with my back against the cross fence. It was so still and nice and cold. After sunrise with no activity I could not resist a good nap on the ground using my small pack for a pillow.
At around 0930 the landowner drove up and woke me up to let me know brunch is at 1030. Just before he drove off, he gave me a piece of advice. "I would not take a nap on the ground in this cold weather, you may wake with a rattler beside you trying to warm up"
No more than half an hour later as I was still on the ground, back against the cross fence, about 4 feet from me a huge rattler crossed the fence into the road.
I had my 1911 on a chest holster, mag stuffed with Hydra Shocks. I emptied all 8 rounds on that critter. I am no John Wayne, no head shot with 1st round. I did shoot the head once it tried to coil up and somewhat immobile.

In my 50+ years of hunting, nothing was more challenging than a late season archery elk hunt. Refreshing, saw a lot of elk, but getting within 30 yards wasn't happening.
After a long career of archery hunting and competitions all over the eastern half of US , my neck finally succumbed to disc and nerve damage from 100 arrows a day .
I bought a ridgeline 400fps reverse limb crossbow last year. Shoots great ! Quietly (for a crossbow) shoots a 400gr bolt at 386fps. I cant imagine spending 2800.00 more for a hundred fps increase . I doubt the trajectory difference will be substantial enough to make any difference out to 50yds. A bolt has a lot of drag and the faster you send it , the higher the drag will be, slowing it down at a faster rate. There comes a point of diminishing returns with a bolt or arrow. I spent years studying the effects of velocity on trajectory with an arrow. You hit a wall around 340 where it just isnt worth the extra effort for the very limited return . The raven crossbows are definitely cutting edge, high quality equipment. The speed race going on in the crossbow world has already reached its practical limit. Its just bragging rights at this stage of the velocity game.
