25-06 Ackley Improved

Anyone running one?

What are your favorite loads? I recently had a Ruger #1 rebarreled with a 1:7.5 twist 26" Benchmark barrel.

Shot it yesterday with the 131 Ace bullets and the 128 hammers. 52 gr of 7828scc produced 3000 fps and flattened primers and some sticky ejection. Too fast of a powder I guess.

I had to start somewhere and now I know.

Going to start with 53 gr of RL33 this weekend and work up. Either bullet with decent pressure at 3000-3100 fps would make me happy.
I'm running 120 sierras behind RL23 and 3400. RL23 is magic in the '06 cases.

Back too Fotis you will pick up a lot of velocity with the 117 gr absolute recommended twist 1-8.5 I just finished a 25-284 1-8 twist the 90 gr hammer will be my first choice 117 gr second choice I'm up too 3733 fps on the 90 still testing

Still confused why 7828 is to fast of burn rate but I am old I am confused about a lot of things these days why people that don't love the USA don't just Leave

Hey guys. I have a 22/250 ai I tried to load some 55gr, but found out that I have a 1:7 twist and @ 3200, I was blowing up the bullets.
Now I have ordered some 70 gr Hammer Hunter and going to try to start @ about 3000 and go up on speed a little at a time.
I am going to try 38gr IMR4831, 30.6gr RE 15, and 32.5gr IMR 4895
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Fotis, friend has built 4 25-06 AI s for various guys. 8 twists. All shooting 131 Ace BJ bullet. Faster powder they tried was R26 and H1000. Went as slow as R33 and US869 and those still had plenty of case volume and really woke up that cartridge. R33 was low 60-61 gr range to start and worked up. 869 was another 2-3 grs. Velocities were 3200 plus if memory serves me right; 27" barrels.

I can get specific charges if you d like. Good luck with your new rifle!

I'd certainly like to hear the specifics.

Don't start at 3000 as you'll just be wasting time and components

Checked with friend and here's his chargesā€¦. Work up as their max in his rifles. (Used same reamer so all 4 rifles shot same load)

H1000 61 grs was 3125 FPS
R33 65 grs was 3200+ FPS

Couldn't find his US869 data.
