What do you use to clean the lens on your scopes,range finders,Bino's and Spotting Scopes?

I use the same items that I use for my 35mm camera lenses. Blow it off, soft lens brush, then Q-tip with lens cleaning solution, going in decreasing circular motions and figure eights. Then dry with another Q-tip. I follow that with another Q-tip cleaning with distilled water. Then finish camera lens wipes. In between, I use the lens cleaning bush to "dust" any specks off. I cleaned my scope twice a year - at the beginning and end of my shooting my season.

If you use a lens cleaning solution, don't apply it directly to the lens. Apply it to the lens cloth, then gently clean the lens. Don't grind the cloth into the lens (I know I'm stating the obvious here).
I'm curious why u dont apply cleaner directly to the lens. I spray a lot of cleaner directly to the lens and let the cleaner carry the dust off the lens to the bottom of the bell where I have a paper towel soak up the lens cleaner. I don't like the idea of dragging dust across the lens with a brush.
Zeiss sells lens cleaning patches in individual sealed packets, I always keep some in my hunting backpack as well as a Leupold lens cleaning pen. First I use the brush end of the pen to brush the fore and aft lenses to remove anything that could scratch the finish on the glass. Then use the other end of the lens cleaning pen to try to get any oil from my skin, or in one case blood from my eyebrow off the glass. Then if it still doesn't pass my inspection I'll turn to the Zeiss lens wipes, the last purchase I made I got 600 wipes for $34.95 from Amazon prime with free shipping. I use them on my rifle scopes, spotting scope, binoculars and my eyeglasses. Oh and I forgot my SLR digital cameras as well.

I use a lens pen/ brush to remove the larger particles, then use a clean lens cloth with lens cleaner spray.
Try not to clean your optics very often. Try to keep them clean.
When you do clean, remove the big particulates with a really soft brush (I like the Vortex cleaning kit brush).
Rinse the lens with water.
Put a drop of optic cleaning fluid on a soft lens cloth, and clean in a circular pattern.
Try not to repeat.
In the field, saliva makes a good lens cleaning solution.
Lick it.

In my case, that was an warning I got from both kodak and Minolta. I thinbk it may have to do with either minimizing the amount of liquid on the lens so none wicks down the edges, or the type coating on the lens.
