After suffering a major stroke in January, I'm now 6 months into recovery and making plans for my annualvwyoming pronghorn and mule deer hunts.
My wife is especially nervous that i will be going solo and doesn't need the extra stress after what she's been going through to keep me healthy and alive. My recovery has gone well and i am not restricted or handicappef in any way.
My question here is will any lrh members be in the areas I will be hunting? Without divulging my spots I won't mention them until we PM.
THE ANTELOPE AREA IS just east of buffalo near the powder river6and I will be deer hunting near ten sleep.
Pm me with any responses, I've hunted both areas in the past and can exchange info if anyone has quedtions.
The peace of mind for my wife will be well worth it for me. Both areas have had decent cell service in the past. Having contact with anyone if i have any troubles could be a God send which works both ways.
Thanks for looking and I will check for pms.

Man I'd like to help ya but no vacation time left and my areas are in the opposite direction. Never hunted either area so not any help there either😐
Thanks for the concern Cliff, this stroke has really knocked the carp out of me. I struggle with the use of my left hand, make reloading and shooting pretty awkward. Can't put the shooting muffs on because have no grip to pullthe muffs apart. Have been struggling with my lawn mower even though the drought up here has my lawn fried up for the grass hoppers. My antelope area is A22 and deer region "M". Missed all the important draw and application dates because my memory is also a little screwed up. My elk points didn't help me thiscyearcbut next year I'm hoping to hunt down by rawlins if i get my app in early enough.

I wish I could help you out, but I am restricted to Saturdays only due to my job. My youngest son got a nice pronghorn in area 22 several years ago. Best of luck to you sir.

At this point, I don't think that I can be of any help! All I can offer is Best Wishes and may your health not handicap you in any way! At this time, my own hunting season is a little "shaky"! memtb

Thanks memtb, the brotherhood of the LRH members is strong. I have recieved several offers to help me out should the need arise. My recovery is going well. I am doing my best to prepare my camper and equipment to minimize any difficulty on my hunts.if I was elk hunting I'm sure the pack out would be my stumbling block (litetally)! Looking forward to 2022 when I burn my 11 elk points.

There's a chance, though a bit low, that we may be doing a day hunt or two near Hyattville for deer. I assume, that as you will have your camper, will you be camping at the little campground on the edge of Ten Sleep or will you be out boondocking? memtb

We hunted "R" last year and also in 2019. Last year we found a little luck in a walk in area (west of hyatville).
My grandson shot a 3x4 and I a 2x2 they were loving the third crop alfalfa. We camped in ten sleep at the campground, third time, my plan at present is boondocking on both sides of the mountain in spots I've camped inthe past.
Best of luck to you on your hunts and thanks again for your concern for this old duffer. I will be spending my 70th birthday while I'm out there.

I may be able to help on your Wyoming hunt.

I can't go with you, but I would highly recommend renting a satellite phone for the time you will be out there. You can be a long way between cell towers in that part of the world, and it would greatly ease your wife's anxiety for you to check in with her in the evening. It would also give you a chance to call for help if needed.

A rental satellite phone, emergency locator beacon, filed schedule/routes/hunting locations, and scheduled check-in with your loved ones/locals/authorities would be comforting insurance. A personal GPS with planned way points entered left in vehicle/camp makes locating one easier. Regardless of prior medical events or not, having a heart attack/stroke/major medical event with a hunting partner out in the boonies merely means the body can be recovered more quickly with less effort, hopefully before the bears lay claim to the remains. Your January stroke probably occurred with loved ones near medical resources in town, and you were probably still fortunate to have survived. We all are merely tourists passing through this life with an unknown number of heartbeats allocated by God......my faith. Would one rather die sitting in front of the flat screen bored out of our heads with a false sense of security, or take that last heartbeat out in God's country doing what we are passionate about.?? Take whatever precautions provide comfort of mind, but don't limit your experiences by fear. If you have a strong faith in God and His promises (if you don't, you're focusing on the wrong priority anyway....again my faith), passing only gets us to His promises faster. A win-win, enjoying allotted heartbeats to the maximum and at last realizing His promises. Enjoy your hunt and heartbeats to the maximum. Wish I were in the area, I'd enjoy being your "comfort net" and enjoying watching you enjoy your heartbeats. But, fair notice, I only pack bodies out on horse or ATV......no more drag elk, drag George. Been there, done that. Shoulda "boned out" ole George also. Old too soon; smart too late. :) :) :)

My faith and the faith of family & friends helped me survive this ordeal and is a testament to how God answers prayers.
Thanks for your concerns and insight to my predicament.
