+1 for Nosler 180 gr ballistic tips. IMR 4350 pushes them @2950 in my .300 SAUM.

Can I ask what your load data is for the 178AH? Just ordered some, first time using hammers, and haven't decided on what powder just yet.
For many years ago I have done very well with Nosler Accubond 180 gr.I have taken elk and many many mule deer with that same bullet.
300 win mag and 180 gr accubonds in 2019 took a muley buck at 610 yards with one shot and fell like a rock.
The year before that I took a nice muley at a hair over 600 yards and one shot drop.
The year before that I took a very nice muley at 437 yards and again one shot.

You could go with 180gr Accubonds or Ballistic Tips.Those 180gr Ballistic Tips are tough bullets and they shoot great.Onside shoulder shot on red stag with 180gr Ballistic Tip out of my 300 Win Mag.Bullet exited behind offside shoulder.I would have no problems shooting an elk with them.
Baldhunter most likely remember's when ballistic tips had thin jackets and created horrible meat loss but they refined the Ballistic tip and I will not feel handicapped with using them.Just bought 2 more boxes of 180 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip's.
Accubond's are hard to find right now but things are changing as I see more and more loaded ammo and reloading components,except PRIMERS!

Yes those early Ballistic Tips shot great but were very fragile and did waste an awful amount of meat.I quit using them for about twenty years because of that.Yes they have improved them greatly.I think they are among the best cup and core hunting bullets you can use for hunting.The only difference I see between them and an Accubond is I get just a little larger wound channel and seem to kill just a little quicker as a result.I have had 100% exits on about fifteen head of deer and a couple of stags.The lead core seems to be really hard in the ballistic tip because it doesn't ruin a lot of meat like some cup and core bullets can do.

This was an old style 150gr Ballistic Tip I recovered from a whitetail shot with a 7mag at 250yds.It blew to pieces and never went through the scapula of the shoulder.It knocked him down and he was bleeding from the nose and mouth.I didn't realize none of the bullet entered the chest cavity,everything was piled up on the scapula.I did kill the deer later with a neck shot.I quit Ballistic Tips after that.Now that they have been redesigned,I like them.Here is a picture of a 165gr somebody recovered from a water jug test.Doesn't get much better than that

I've had excellent luck with the Accubonds in a handful of cartridges (308, 280, and 338 WM). Bears, whitetail, and muley's have been taken from 15 yards out to 500 yards. The only bullets I recovered were from a black bear and a whitetail. The black bear was shot at around 50 yards with the bullet traveling half the length of his body and it stopped in its skull. The next was a whitetail shot at 200 yards with a 16" 308 using 150gr. Shot was quartering away and bullet hit just in front of the hip and was found in his neck. He weighed 215 dressed.

I'm surprised no one mentioned 200gr accubonds yet. I shot those for a couple of years, BC is not terrible.

What works in my Remington 700 300 WM with a factory barrel are 180 gr Barnes TSX. I would have to dig out the exact charge but I know it is with H4350 and velocity is 3040 fps. It will shoot a 3/4" group at 200 if I do my part.

Thanks all, I walked into my local academy a few weeks ago to 20 boxes of new production 180gr rem core lokt. grabbed one to test it and the xbolt really liked it. Doped it to 550 easily. Decided to just go with that and spend my reloading time and money further tuning the main rifle.
