Bergara Wilderness Ridge or Savage 110 High Country

I'm stuck between the Bergara Ridge and the Savage 110 High Country, Chambered in 300 win mag (I am kind of considering 6.5 PRC but have already picked up several boxes of 300 win mag), I am stationed in Fairbanks Alaska so it would be used for Caribou, Moose and Bear. I perviously had a Bergara Ridge in 30-06 but could not get it to hold groups so I sent it to Bergara this past March and they were still trying to work the accuracy issue out with it as of today (has been hard for them to get ammo to shoot it) they said the best they could get it to group was 1.5" so they offered a refund and I took it due to Caribou season opening August 10th I gotta get a good LR rifle in my hands. My budget is right around $1200 so I looked at the Christensen Mesa but have heard some horror stories. All in-put is welcome because I am just starting to get my feet wet in long range hunting ( Alaska hunting is way diffrent then Kentucky) The scope that will be on the rifle is a Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44 BDC reticle

It's a coin toss unfortunately. Personally, I'd go with the savage just because I've had two bergaras that didn't shoot. Both were, b14 hunters in 30-06. Kinda settled my mind on that brand.

I'll second the x bolt the wife has 2 and they flat out shoot. I don't mind savage I have a couple and they shoot just not as good or as smooth as her x bolts. My only complaint with them is the stupid metric thread pitch.

Bergara Ridge in .300 PRC. It took some time, JB Weld, TriggerTech and load work - but it is consistently under an inch with 3-shots at 100. About time to stretch it out some. Good luck with your choice!

Savage or Tikka maybe. Depending on what you like for looks and feel of the rifle. I just picked up a Tikka here and the fit and finish of the bolt and clip are superior. Shoots .5 with factory ammo too. Savage ultralight in .300WSM wouldn't disappoint either.

Yeah I think after two lemons I would have settled my mind to, it's unfortunate, Only reason I'm considering another Bergara is because the customer service is pretty decent, but the High Country has really got my attention, but I really just want something that'll be 1 MOA or less at 100 yards and Savage doesn't have the guarantee, I called them yesterday and they said factory standards are 1" 5 shot group at 100 yards, just a lot of money to get another rifle that shoots 3" groups at 100 yards haha

I've read a lot of people liking Tikka, would you happen to know what their warranty is? Also what caliber is yours? I am curious to how much recoil a Tikka in 300 win mag has over say a Bergara or a slightly heavier rifle

In regard to Tikka, IMHO - they are hard to beat with light-for-caliber bullets. I've still got one and had another that under an inch is/was no problem with lightweight bullets. No good twists for the heavy stuff.

I have a Tikka T3 and Savage 116, both chambered in 300WSM. The Tikka outhandles and outshoots the Savage all day long. My Brother has a Savage 110 Storm in 300Win....and honestly, I don't care for it. Can't speak for Bergara. The Tikka Veil Wideland and Alpine are both in your price range and have all the features you are looking for, compared to the Ridge or High Country. That would be my pick if I were in the market.

That's what I was reading, the 300 win mag has the 1:11 twist and doesn't like to go heavier that 180 GR, but that's just what I've read

Far and away the easy button is a Tikka T3 in .300 WM. Add a Limbsaver pad and if you wish to go with bullets heavier than 180's go with the 200 Nosler and you're golden. Personally, I'd go 180 NBT and call it a day.
