Leica. I've had 4 sig 2400's and now run a leica 3200.com. I would definitely look at the leica line up if in your shoes.

I have used the same Leica for the past 15 years. It is the 1200 model. Nothing fancy and no incline correction. It will read well last 1200 yards on real life targets, extremely compact, and great glass. Should be in your price range.

My Sig 2000 will only range to about 700 yards. I bought the Leica 2400. It ranges what they say it will.

So I'm still using my leupold rx-ll rangefinder. Works fine for archery but not so good for long range shooting. I don't need 1500 yard deer capable but I'd like to be able too hit one at 700 plus yards. I'm gonna set a budget of $500-700. What are solid choices? I heard some chatter about maven. The rx2800 looks like a solid choice. What else should a guy consider before buying?

I have the Nikon Black Range X 4k. it is at the bottom of your price range or better, and I have free handed ranged buildings over 4000 yards away. I frequently range trees 2800 yards away and Deer and elk sized animals up to 2000 yards away. I got mine before covid and prices were about 350 ish now they are closer to 500. looks like Cabela's has this range finder on sale right now for $350.00 In my opinion it is worth way more than that.
I have not seen anything else near that price range that can compare.

Pay attention to the beam divergence. You'll notice the beam divergences small on the better RF's. I've never heard complaints with Leica RF's that I can remember. I use a Gunwerks RF. Had the BR2500, waiting on the BR4 to come to market. I get the best RF I can afford. It is a direct interface between me and my target; pretty good is often not good enough.

I know this is way out of your mentioned price range, I recently paid the big bucks for Leica Geovid3200.Com 10X42. Amazing optics. A guy almost has to be an engineer to set it up though. Don't see myself ever using separate binoculars and range finder anymore, totally spoiled now. You can't go wrong with Leica's rangefinder, good stuff

Been using a SIG Kilo 2400, I don't think you can beat it, never used one as good as this. Can range deer out to 1200 that I know, I've been told that it will range soft light absorbing targets to 1500 and reflective to 2500- 2600. Happy shooting.
