Absolute Hammer load data

Edited to make more readable, original post I spaced all the data out to make it look like a table but the site jammed it all together.

A few weeks ago I was talking with Steve and he suggested I retry Alliant Power Pro Varmint with the 151s except using Large Rifle Primers (F210) rather then the Magnum Large Rifle (F215). I was finally able to make it to the range yesterday morning and the results have me looking for more Power Pro Varmint. Using the F210 Primers I was able to get to the top of the ladder (~2gr of powder into compression) without any signs of pressure.

Start Low and work up on charge weight!

I picked an old , true beater rifle for my first try. It's a weatherby vanguard 25-06 with a bariska scope with unknown round count and lots of rapid fires. Brass is also unknown firings

I'm glad you followed up on this! We inherited a 2nd 308 this winter and I finally was able to snag some Pro Varmint last week. I have enough 151's left to run a ladder with Pro Varmint in both 308's and see where they land.
 
Really impressed with hammers. One thing I do think going forward for myself at least , I'm going to shoot for pressure and accuracy first, then I'll strap my v3 on. I thought I was basically done with an ultra light tikka in 300wsm with hammer hunters and loaded up 4, 4 shot strings 1/10 gr apart and was shooting for groups at 200. Not 100% wth went wrong but definitely different than what I saw with 2 shot groups at 100 with the v3 strapped to it. I will say my shoulder was fried after load work with the 25-06 and a 300 prc with 245 bergers and 250 atips and the tikka is violent with those hammers.

Good work! I have also found better velocity and no premature pressuring out using standard primers on 2 of my rifles. Mag primers are not always the best choice like previously thought. It seems like std primers with extra neck tension sometimes works better (thanks, BBean). I'm getting quite a collection of Lee FCDs!

Have any of you guys using FCDs gone back to "normal" neck tension with the crimp? ie 0.002 neck tension and then add the crimp? If so what were your results? So far I've only added the crimp to brass that I had already sized without the expander ball in my sizing die resulting in 0.006 neck tension.

I am asking because when I full length resize without the expander ball I can't trim the case because I don't have an appropriately sized pilot. So currently I full length resize with the expander ball, trim, neck size without expander, seat bullet, then finally crimp…. It would be nice to cut out that additional sizing. I will probably experiment myself but if someone has already experimented with/without success I would love to know.

I set all my necks to 0.002 using mandrels before I seat the bullets. Then I crimp. Have been doing this for years and it works well.
