I’m new here

Hi everybody, I'm new here and figured I should introduce myself. I'm not much of a long range shooter, cause I'm not a very god shot, but I do love hunting. I hope to get better though. I am from Saskatchewan and hunt everything from whitetail to elk to moose. I won't shoot animals I don't plan on eating typically, ie. geese even though they are a really exciting hunt. I don't own to many rifles, if there is such a thing, but the ones I have I enjoy. Currently I have a 30-06, 7mm rm, 375H&H and a new 6.5 prc. Thanks in advance for any tips and hopefully I can help out once in a while as well.
You want a tip....buy more guns....this tip from Alberta...welcome to the group!

Hello and welcome from South Western Florida !

Welcome from British Columbia all i got to say is try the longer range stuff even if you don't surprise yourself just trying will improve your shooting skills and the questions along the way these guys will help you with excellent group. And youve got some rifles there that should do well
I am hoping to start practicing out to 500 yards this summer. I also love bow hunting and know that practicing at longer ranges greatly improve short range accuracy

Welcome to the Forum, I am in Arizona now, born in Dodsland, lived in Anerley, Spy hill, worked the farm in Winiard sp? And spent summers in outlook. Emigrated to the states at a young age but returned every summer to work. My family had to go through the proper immigration process, which in turn allowed me to serve in the Marines. I did a short stint as a PMI, ( primary marksmanship instructor) and had good success, mostly because of the Gulf war and the seriousness of needing to be proficient, I believe.
Plenty of long range shots available over the fields of canola, now being replaced with cannabis if Pierre ID 10 Ts son will allow it. Welcome, again and if I am ever allowed back home again I'd like to meet you.
Wynyard is the place I think you are talking about. And most definitely, if you are ever in the Saskatoon area, send me a pm

Welcome from Eastern Oklahoma. Are you reloading, yet? If not, it will give you something enjoyable to do between seasons. Unfortunately, in the States at least, the equipment and supplies are scarce at present. I started reloading nearly 40 years ago because ammo for my two Weatherby Mags was so expensive. But over the past 4 years I've acquired the additional tools to load for precision and consistency, mainly learning from the folks on this forum. Beware: IT'S AN ADDICTION!

I have all the equipment to reload. I just need to pick up a set of dies. Recommendations? The components are pretty scarce here too for the 6.5 prc. I bought mine about a month ago and still haven't shot it. There are no bullets, brass or powder anywhere. I did finally find some Nosler brass in Quebec. I had two boxes in my cart and by the time I paid, there was only one box available. So at least I've got 50 brass. I did find some Gunwerx ammo, but it was going to be $140/box. I know they have good brass, but that's just to much for me

It sounds like you may have bought your 6.5 PRC from Gunwerks, which I also did a year ago. In order to squeeze the max accuracy from it, I would rec you spend a little extra up front on your die set and buy them with a micrometer on the seating die so you can precisely adjust depth of the bullets to the nearest .001". I'm very happy with my RCBS dies with the micrometer

Greetings from the Big Sky Country of Montana. Welcome to LRH, and enjoy! There are lots of good folks here to learn from.

My fishing buddies and I enjoy an annual fishing (mostly pike and walleye) trip in SK before COVID. I hope to hunt your great province someday, esp. black bears.

Welcome to the forum from the Florida Georgia Line. This is one great forum, a lot of help and knowledge on here.
Really like your area, have hunted bear in Makwa and Deschambault Lake. Good people, good hunting. Enjoy the forum.
Tommy
We're you hunting with the Grundman's at Deschambault? They lived a little ways from my uncles farm

We always take a bear tag moose hunting. I'd hate to have to leave one laying if we needed to shoot it in camp. Plus I'd like to try eating one some day. I heard they are tasty if they haven't been eating out of a dump
