What would you suggest for 7x57AI 1-9 twist 23" long action? I've got 155's for my saum but pretty sure I'll want lighter for the 57.

Also thinking of the 240's for my 9.3. Any good starting point for those?

I think I would look at the 131g Hammer Hunter or the 143g Hammer Hunter.

I have not loaded a 9.3 but I think I need to order a barrel so I can load that 240g. It is impressive!

I think I'll try the 131's to gain a little more speed. I'm getting 2830 with 160 AB's in rifle so I'd think 3000-3100 is doable.

I've been eyeballing your stuff, really like what Hammer is about and want to support it. I'm looking for a bullet/powder recommendation but I have a couple questions. My rifle is a 24" 7saum, 3" coal, 1:8 using thick ol' brass (gunwerks/adg and nosler). Currently have h4831, imr7977, and fed 210s. Dual purpose target/hunter. Looking mainly at the longer bullets, not concerned about losing powder space unless there are mechanical limitations on your projectiles. I'd rate myself a newer but highly methodical reloader. I definitely feel safe as long as I know I'm headed in the right direction.

First, how critical is it to jump up in powder and primer heat for the absolutes? Like if I'm using h4831 and fed 210 do I need to jump to varget and 215 primers to get good obturation? If I stay with that first combo will it be unsafe, very piddly, or just suboptimal? Does it apply at all to the regular HH or just the AH?

Second, can the problem above be partially solved by neck tension instead? I imagine deformation of the gas/rifling checks is an issue so maybe lighter than normal tension is required.

Anyway, I'm after a mulie/elk recommendation but might be after a coyote round too if they need to be different for expansion. I've been wanting to support people trying to push the standards up for lead-free and for bullets in general and I really like where your heads are at. I appreciate your time.

I would run the 143g Hammer Hunter. Use your 4831 and use published load data like Hodgdon for 140g bullets and start your load workup from there. If you were to go to the 140g Absolute you will likely need powder in the 4350 burn range. The 4831 week be too slow.

Wow, that light, okay. I was planning on at least the 155s to get enough pressure. Would the 154s or the 155's be a no-go too? Thanks for your response. I have a 6.5 Grendel pistol with a 12" Faxon barrel and 1:8 twist. It was put together for the late restricted weapon deer season here in MO. I used it last year to take a 12 pt at 221 yds with factory Federal 120 gr Fusion ammo. It worked perfectly. But finally, after a 6 month backorder, my Grendel dies came in so I can roll my own. What Hammer bullet would you suggest for this Grendel setup? Current velocity with this 120 gr Federal load averages 2185 fps. Again, it is for whitetails.

I also have a 7 SAUM with 8.5 twist 22" Bartlein barrel, I'm taking it to WY for bull elk this fall. Working with the 175 elite hunter right now but intrigued by the Hammer. May order some with your special today.
