The Weatherby is just an awesome cartridge and fun to shoot.
Wonder why Weatherby is now using Hornady for their 100gr bullets? I want to say they were using Norma spitzers before.
For 100g, they use Barnes TTSX, Hornady Interlock, and Swift Scirocco.
I see that, but I'm pretty sure before they came out with the hornady interlock in their hundred grain ammo they used to use Norma spitzers. Just curious as to what made them change.

I didn't read this entire thread, but maybe no one mentioned barrel life? The .257WM barrel life surely is measured in hundreds of rounds whereas the .25-'06's is maybe double that and the 257 Roberts' is maybe double that of the 25-06's.
But I understand this is a hunting forum and not a shooting-competition forum.. I'm in the sometimes-screamingly-slow process of building a .25WSSM.. This short, fat little thing...
...burns only areound 45 grains per shot and produces as much as about 3100FPS with these gorgeous Berger hunting 115s out of normal-length barrels.
But I understand the allure of high velocity, and it's very strong in the long-range-competition world, too.. We'll see how my quest goes later this year.. Meanwhile the barrel's ordered (Shilen 28" bull with 7" twist) and my right-shoulder-joint REreplacement surgery is scheduled for June 08; wish me luck, pls.

Might have to go grab a box of those Hornady's just to see how they perform...if nothing else thats about as cheap as you will find brass anymore for the cartridge.

They are HUNTING rifles and even if he were correct, "100s of rounds" equates to a lifetime of hunting.
But he is wrong as anyone who owns one and avoids rapid fire can attest to.
Then if you have the barrel Nitrided, several 1000 rounds is normal before any throat wear. That means your great grand-children will still be shooting it.

Not sure about sports cars but I'm complaining right now about paying 1400.00 for new truck tires. 300.00+ for a standard truck tire not a monster truck tire is pretty ridiculous. I can buy and have 3 barrels chambered for that price. Course I couldn't drive to the range without tires !!!

It really depends on size, load rating, and brand/type. The trendy 20" tires that come stock on a lot of pickups these days are easily over $300 for entry-level brands and types.
Tires today are a lot more expensive than a decade ago just like pickups! When you add 100+ Hp and a payload/trailer rating of several thousand additional pounds, tires and brakes are going to be more expensive!
My 470NE is a lot more expensive than my 308W too!
But, I hear you on tire cost. When I started running Load Range E's on my pickup ~8 years ago, the only sub-$300 options were no-name options from Asia.
