First magnum caliber

Hello all I'm looking at stepping up to a magnum caliber rifle all I've ever had is 308s 30-06 and 270 and 223 and 50 cal muzzle loader.and wanting something with more punch and more reach and a kind of a do all hunt everything but brown bear caliber and be confident in it.ive looked at 300 win mag 7mm mag all the wsm and saums but not sure what would be best.i mostly hunt deer and will be hunting black bear this year and hope able to hunt elk next year. Just would like some info and experience from who ever wants to share some knowledge of what magnum caliber would be good.as far as rifles go I would like to do a semi custom if I can off the rem 700 30-06 action or savage model 11 308 action depending on what caliber.if I'm not able to do that I've looked at windchester, browning, tikka, bergara, and Christiansen arms for factory rifle thanks all in advance
Excuse me if I missed this: do you reload? If not, you might want to consider what ammo is readily available? For your stated game animals the 7mm rem mag & 300 win mag are "usually" available. And well suited to sucessful kills out to 600 yds +++??? "Wildcats", AI's, short magnums, SAUltra Mags,,, and other "less than standard cartridges" may leave you without ammo? Correct shot placement!!! with a good quality bonded - partition type 30-06 round, can and has taken most N.A game. Including the "big bears". I own and enjoy 7mm mag's & 338 Lapua mag. Prefer Savage "off the shelf" rifles. And enjoy making them shoot to their full potential. Good luck!

Yes I do hand load for all my rifles

And I've been looking around for what ammo is available as well mostly around here 300 win mag and some 7mm mag is available

My first magnum was the 270 Weatherby Mag, in a Weatherby Mark V Deluxe rifle. Still have it and still love it. .270 Win for deer, 270 Weatherby Mag for deer , very far away . Took two mule deer and an antelope in Wyo. and an Elk in Colo. Beautiful round for what we used to call Long Range. It was developed by Roy Weatherby about 1948, and the ballistics are very respectable, especially with todays High BC Bullets .

Go BIG or go home! Caliber of at least .338 and a large volume case. There are lots of options.
Or stick with what you have have and build some hot hand loads with premium long range bullets. (you are interested in long range aren't you?) You didn't mention the accuracy of your current stock or your real need to go to a magnum as you already have elk worthy calibers. Maybe you should consider accuracy improvements and extending the range of your current rifles...
I've thought about just building a custom 30-06 ai out of my 30-06 I have now.i hand load for all my rifles and as far as accuracy gos still messing around with 30-08 but have it down to 7/8 inch 4 shot group at 100 and my two 308s I can shoot half moa on a good day.the savage will out shoot me and I've had the most trigger time on it cause that was first rifle I loaded for and my remington tatical it'll shoot hammers and amaxs at half moa 4 shot groups and as far as my 270 I haven't shot my hand loads yet (it was my grandpa that past and it's still hard for me to shoot it) but it shot moa with factory hornady or winchester

I started out with regular calibers and after a few years moved to magnums, now I do both but tend toward the old standards. 30-06 AI is a good compromise. Mine can get 3200fps with 150 gr. Noslers and Superformance powder out of a 24 inch barrel and that feels like a magnum. A 338-06 will give you 3000fps with 180 gr. Accubonds and that will handle everything up to the big bears without beating on you too much. I still carry my .338 Win Mag and my .375 H&H when I'm in the north country just for the reduced anxiety when stepping over steaming piles of grizzly poo but that's just my worst-case-scenerio outlook showing itself. Magnum is as magnum does, pick a velocity, a bullet weight and the style of rifle you prefer to carry and shoot. Work from there and don't be surprised if you ideas change during the process.
