Need H1000 Loads for New 300 PRC

Interesting table you set up. Sure wouldn't want to hit the table. I would use case trays to place my weight case into. Log them on a spread sheet. Them Make on the base with finger nail polish ( like 300, or 3, or Mag, or W Mag or any code to verify the weight of the case. That way at the range if I got them mixed I could go back and get them in proper weight order. I know that it help in the ES variances.
I've setting up to do volume weight checks instead of case weight. Now reading that doesn't apply so much anymore. I know I will do both for awhile and see that takes place in velocity.
Got to get moved completely to Montana.

I'm finding that neck tension is more important that the case weight. Here is the load I decided on @ 546yds (500m). Last time out with the same brass not sorted .

I have sorted some by volume but have not experimented with large enough samples to prove if it worked or not...
 
I know that when I get totally set up in Montana. Those are things I have added to my steps in reloading from all the info I have gain here! I had fallen behind in reloading, mostly do to bow hunting for a great many years, and only needing a rifle for some hunting. I have pet load for those rifles that are under or about 1/2 groups at 100 yds and do well out beyond that. I have a wildcat coming in 6mm/280AI being built another 338WM with a 26" barrel #6 I believe. Looking to see what I can get in velocity and groups (I am a long barrel man). Presently have Mark 11 in a Ruger with a 24" barrel that I am getting 3230fps in 1/2 groups @ 100yds. I've seen a lot of elk taken with the 338 and it seem to do a better job at putting down the elk. Bleed out was better, and easier to tack if needed to be. I used a 308 Norma Mag for my elk hunting and didn't have a problem with it either. Bullet places is really the name of the game above all.

When I asked Berger bullets for data with the 215 hybrid. They came back with 80-84 grains of H1000. Using ADG brass. I started much lower as it seemed high to me. I never found true pressure signs. Only a slight ejector mark when I got above 83gr. Nothing to note on the primer. I settled in a little over 81gr at 3015fps. With a .34" group at a 100.

That seems really high! I know powder manufacturers are pretty conservative but Hodgdon lists the max as under 80.

I thought so too! That's why I worked up from much lower. I do know that the hybrids will run less pressure than the 212eld-x as they have less bearing surface. If you go onto the Facebook 300prc page and search H1000 you will see quite a bit of info there. Good luck. Let me know if I can help you out any more.
 
Finally got the new 300 PRC and shot a few Hornady factory 212 ELD-X through it to break in. Shot those around 1/2" at 100 but I now have some Lapua brass and can't wait to see what reloads will do. I would appreciate some recommendations for starting loads. I only have H1000, CCI 250 primers and the following bullets: 212 ELD-X, 225 ELD-M, and 215 Hybrids. I have trimmed the brass, run through Redding Type S bushing die and primed. The necks on the brass were extremely tight. Had to lube inside necks to (easily) run through carbide expander ball. Also noted that primers seated without much resistance. Anyway, please give me your thoughts on starting loads.

Not very impressive and not sure where to go next. I will say I did not see pressure signs at 80 grains so can't decide whether to keep going or stick with a lighter load. This was also only 3 shots per load so SD and ES are meaningless. Only two good groups out of 10 different loads (.5 grains between loads) is pretty disappointing. I really wanted the gun to like the 215s.

Id keep taking it up until you find pressure. You never know where you will fine the next node. Also I'd either put them 15 to 20 thousands off lands. That will most likely tighten all your groups up. And allow you to fit a little more powder in before hitting pressure. Good luck. A couple of your groups looked pretty good!
