6mm Remington Ammo

Hey bud I am also from Pennsylvania originally and my brother and Mom and Dad still live out there, I reload for his 30-06 since I'm stationed here in Colorado there are alot more (and it's still very meager) components on gunstore shelves. PM me and I can help you get hooked up with (some) components at my cost only I don't make any money off this like some people try too. I visit up 8 or 9 stores weekly and I can find sstuff

A bit of hope! You choose a 6mm caliber which is still very easy to find bullets for. Powder can be bought from powder valley, midway USA midsouthshooterssupply and grafs. Camp out on this forum and enable notifications, check the "unanswered threads" (threads with no reply) someone on here throws out a alert every time theses websites get powder in stock. Just be patient.

The FIRST and absolutely first thing you should do is begin buying reloading manuals, that way you can get an idea of what powders/bullets you want to try and make a "hit list" then you will be ready to make a quick decision on powder when it comes in stock.

New gun owner here.

I am very happy to be finally joining the ranks of American gun owners! Though, it seems I picked the absolute worst time to do so! (Lol)

I decided to support a local firearms shop here in South Central PA and bought a never fired preowned Remington 700 in 6mm Remington. The rifle is gorgeous and I think I got a fair deal, but I haven't been able to find ANY ammo since I bought the gun 2 months ago! I feel like maybe the owner took advantage of me and sold me a gun that's going out of style with no ammo to be had. Anyway, life goes on.

I think I probably need to invest in reloading equipment in order to eventually get any ammo for it, but everything is sold out and I'm clueless even where to start.

An old timer recommended I post here and ask for help.

Are there ANY stores selling 6mm Remington? Should I just resell the gun and cut my losses? Should I just wait til the next Republican administration? I'm lost and fearful I'm out of luck. I wish I'd bought something else to be honest.

Anyway, sorry for the long post and I'd be extremely grateful for any advice.

The 6mm Remington is based on the 7 x 57 (7mm ) Mauser. Perhaps you could find some 7mm Mauser brass and neck it down, or have a friend do it.

Can you make it out of 260rem? That brass is everywhere out here

You want to save a pile of money on reloading books....join load data.com.....reloading data for just about every make and model of bullets listing every powder that works best for every load ( best that is as in best starting point to get you on paper....)

I also shoot a 6 Remington and it is very enjoyable to shoot as well. I apologize , after a moment and a reread I got mixed in my response as I do shoot both 6 Remington and 260 Remington I got my response mixed with both cartridges. Sorry for the "Brain Fart".

Ben , the first high power rifle that I bought used in 1971 was a 6mm Remington 700..still my favorite and certainly one of the most accurate I own... I would hold on to the rifle and assemble reloading equipment as possible, I'm located in NE Ohio and would be happy to help you get started, congratulations on a great firearm purchase! Keith
