7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

So those of you that have been around the stw much longer do you feel this caliber punches above it's weight class? For reference some people my self included feel the 257 wby punch's with way more weight that it's given credit for.
There are several here, that have taken elk, at very respectable distances as well, and were DRT. An example of what I think your speaking of, is that I used to use a 145 LRX, Barnes, pushed at 3460, 1/4 minute groups all day, and nothing walked, and never recovered a bullet. Now, Enter such a bullet as the Hammer Hunter, or Ultimate, and you've added even better terminal performance, and as good or better accuracy. This round, is truly the sweetheart of the super mags, in 7MMS. There are bigger, but none better. The seven bore has a bit of built in magic because of the bc. Premium bullets, speed and accuracy spells hunter confidence, and no tracking. This round is really easy to load for. RL25, was my angel dust. There are others that do well. Read your targets, watch your barrel heat, get good brass, and keep it that way. Read back in the earlier threads in this blog, you'll get the passion!

I've read all 361 pages lol. A good friend has the same rifle I finally found and purchased the same rife as him . My plan is to run the 143 hammer hunter with rl 26/n565/570/ I have some not a lot but some retumbo and h100 so hopefully those work.

The STW is the perfect 7mm cartridge IMO, It is a beast ,and please don't get me started on 25 caliber stuff

Prior to the introduction of the absolute hammer bullet, my STW had not seen much sunshine In the last two decades. It shot well (5/8 moa), but never lived up to my speed expectations. I quickly found a load for the 155 that consistently shoots under 1/2 moa at 3380 fps. I started taking it along on every trip to the range and rediscovered how much fun the STW is. I have some 140 ladders to test if I can put down the fly rod.

Yeah man, what a whirlwind, and where has the time gone. I was living up north then, and came home in 2013. Wow. I do remember talking to you about it, when you were considering it. You probably ended up with the best 7stw brass around, period. What a magic round it is. Still to this day gives me goosebumps ! I can honestly say that every single deer, or critter that was aimed at with that rifle, never took another step, bar none. Good hearing from you brother! Have to get together sometime.
Yes indeed. Time flies man. We definitely do.
