Which scope to mount on a 300PRC? Because the 300PRC can deliver a violent punch at a long distance, I'm leaning toward the 32. However, the 20 is just as good and a bit more compact in length. Any reasonable thoughts on this? WWYD?

I shoot several 3-15×50s out to 1500+. Never felt underscoped. So I think a 32x would be totally overkill unless you plan on shooting prairie dogs at 1000+.

But, the GOOD thing about the 4-32 is the 4x min is not too high. So anything over 20x is a bonus. More for shooting paper/steel than hunting, but will be nice. I rarely hunt with magnification over 7-10x, even when shots are 500-900ish.

If I were buying, I would personally buy the 2.5-20×50. But the 4-32×50 is a nice scope.

You will have to concentrate to see the difference between the 2.5x and 4x low end magnification. But, there is a world of difference on the top end between 20x and 32x. And, surprise!!!!! You don;t have to use the extra 21x-32x magnification if not needed or desired. But, when you need/want that extra. you'll be glad you sent the extra money. I find that he 300PRC out of my Barrett MRAD MK22 has the legs to use the upper end nicely, and my really old store bought eyes really, really appreciate the help. With a NF, you'll still be using that scope when you get to my age to appreciate having the top end.....and it's a bonus until then. And, with Xiden's inflation inducing spending, you'll really be glad you spent the little extra now rather than down the road at twice the cost.

I'm just like Tim The Tool Time Taylor...Need More Power.....you can always turn a scope down....but you can't turn it up anymore than what it has....need it -don't have it- still need it! Have it, don't need it- still have it till you do!

Dont think you would notice a difference on the low end between 2.5 and 4 power. But on the high end you will notice the difference in 20 power vs. 32 power. A little extra length will not be noticed either especially when viewing through the scope. Higher magnification is very important to me when shooting long ranges. I will sacrifice other things before higher power scope. That's just me

I have a custom 300 win that is almost finished and I've debated this same question as you. I have the NXS 32X on a couple different guns and the extra magnification for long range prairie dogs and paper has been nice. For hunting deer or elk, I will never need more than 20X. I also don't see myself ever wanting less than 4X. I've decided to go with 32X even though I probably won't crank it up to 32X very often when shooting deer or elk with it but it will be useful for shooting paper.
