Kelbly Atlas or Defiance Tenacity?

That brings up a good point with the Atlas. Can I run a Rem 700 trigger assembly with and without the trigger hanger?

I know I couldn't go wrong with either but I just keep going back and forth, one day set on the Atlas, next day set on the Tenacity. Through everything I've read I can expect the Atlas to be smoother. But the Tenacity is just a sweet looking action and I like the idea of integral lug though I'm sure it has no real benefit over the double pinned lug.

The rifle will be a mid weight hunting rifle in 300wm if that influences anyone's opinion on which would be the better fit.
The atlas accepts a remington trigger. The trigger hanger must be used. I personally like the trigger hanger because it makes trigger installation very simple and easy. You can get an adjustable trigger hanger for the atlas.

I don't believe the above adjustable trigger hanger will work with Atlas, I believe its for other Kelbly Actions.
However Kelbly has different trigger hangers available to adjust pin fall. On my short action they sent me another as I was not getting the required pin fall of .240". They will sell you another or swap you yours. Easy bunch to talk with.

My barrel is a Bartlein by Southern Precision in TN. It s a Prefit. Just torque and check the head space.
With the Atlas you don't have to remove the ejector to check head space as there is no spring.

So I've narrowed down a build I'm starting to work on to using one of these two actions. I've done a ton of research and think that these are the two best actions in the less then 1k price range. I'm really not interested in the Bighorn Origin or barrel nut and switch barrel setups. Also it's going to be a long action so the Bat Igniter is out. But if there's any out there besides what I've mentioned I'm open to looking into it.

So anyway help me decide which action to go with, your experience with each or either and why you would choose it over another.

Your help is appreciated guy's!
Atlas. If you are hunting, the Altas Tactical cycles faster should dirt and debris collect in the bolt way. The Atlas Tactical is also black, which you may or may not prefer.

I have a Defiance, not the Tanacity but couple grades up and really like it! It is a little heavy and not a short throw but great hunting action! It's married to a Proof 26" sendaro 26" chambered in 300 PRC sitting in a MPA BA Ultralight chassis my favorite hunting platform!

I have both the Kelbly Atlas Tactical and the Defiance Tenacity actions. The Tenacity is limited to mag or standard bolt faces, while the Kelbly will also do the larger Lapua bolt face. And they both will make extra bolts if you are interested. I guess it depend on your plans for when you shoot out the 300 WM barrel.

I have the Defiance Tenacity Action and shoot a 6mm Dasher. Use this setup in PRS matches and would NOT recommend this action. Dirt gets in the action and renders it useless. The bolt throw is too high and comes very close to scope when ejecting spent cartridge. Find an action that has a 60 degree bolt throw and get it DRC coated. This just my experience.

I did a lot of research before buying an Atlas Tactical. There are several very meaningful (to me) advantages to the Kelbly's design, first I love the ejector design with no pressure on the case head in battery and very positive ejection, second I like being able to time the trigger fall and the very close tolerances, super smooth bolt, double pinned recoil lug, nitride coating, fluted bolt for a non inflated price. I like Defiance actions as well but what they don't offer are the very things that make me choose the Atlas to start with. I am also a big fan of Terminus actions aince I like three lug bolt designs and Joel is a really good human being.

Thank you very much for the responses and help guy's.

The last thing and perhaps the most important deciding factor is which of these actions will handle a little more grit and grime should you end up in adverse conditions?

In scouring the net I've found quite a few comments on Defiance in general having too tight of tolerance to handle much dust or debris but haven't found much of anything regarding this on the Atlas? I should add that I intend on running a nitrided bolt (or dlc if I can't get nitride from the factory) and cerakote elite the receiver, so will either of these have a touch more clearance to accommodate?

My gut tells me the Atlas is probably the slightly better choice for a hunting action (also believe the Atlas is 2oz lighter then the Tenacity) but my eyes sure think everything Defiance makes looks great!

Kelbly Atlas Tactical has it nitrided on bolt and receiver along with a 20 moa rail, no need to send off to have done. You can get this action from Ryan Pierce for less than 1k. This is the action I plan on using on my next build.

I gotta say my current plan is for this rifle to always be a 300WM. This build is actually to replace a 300wm I currently have that weights about 13 1/2 lbs. I'm aiming for a lighter (not light) build of about 9 1/2-10 lbs for a good blend of comfortable carry and comfortable shooting.

I know the 300wm is old tech but if setup right there just ain't much that can beat it. No 30 Nosler or 300 PRC hype band wagon hear, just reaching for ol' trusty 300 WIN mag when I'm serious bout killing stuff lol

I believe the Atlas is nitrided standard at least haven't come across one that is not. The Tenacity on the other hand is only available in Nitride through bugholes.com from what I have found. I would never send a part out to be nitrided once received from the seller, too much risk. That's why I said if I couldn't get it nitrided from the company I would DLC the bolt.

I don't believe the Atlas is Nitrided, I see it is stainless on there website.

The Atlas Tactical is Nitrided.
