Zeiss, Leo VX5, VX6, or NF NX8

I fell snake bit with the last to leupold, glass is ok, but both had tracking issues. If you are worried about the extra weight, get the v6 ZEISS or carry one less snack in your backpack and get the NF. The glass in the V6 is better than the others. I like the V6 and have one, but I just trust my Nightforce scopes.

I called them up and changed it to the 4-32 FFP. Is 32 way more than I'll need 99% of the time? Yes. But going between 20-25 will I use that range? Yes. This is my dream gun setup and I figure make it the way I want it now. I know the Leo's get high praise and I own a couple. But for long range stuff potentially I really don't like the reticle options with them. Yes they are a pinch lighter. But I knocked almost half a pound off going titanium receiver so that makes up the difference for the heavier scope. And if you guys want to know I ordered a Fierce Rival CT. Scope will have custom turret. Zeroed at 200 and worked up to 1000 yards before I have it in my hands. This is the most expensive setup I have bought. But I am excited. And probably the last big game rifle I'll buy for at least the next 10 years lol

I own a Zeiss V6 & V4, NF NXS & ATACR and 2 Swaro Z5's.
Love all of them and have them on specific rifles for certain reasons. The Swaros are on light rifles, the ATACR is on a 338 Lapua, etc.....you get what I'm saying.
All of them have great glass. Swaro, ATACR and V6 are the best, but not by much. I did a low light test at dusk to see when each scope went down. They were all about the same. The Zeiss V4 is the least expensive of the bunch, but still performs very well when compared to the others.
The NF is just a tank and bulletproof. I don't think you could damage one to the point of failure unless you tried really hard. Had a colleague drop his rifle getting out of a high stilt blind with a Z5. The bell smashed into a stair near the ground and put a large dent in it. He didn't have a backup rifle, so he checked zero the next morning.........scope was dead on. I don't think you'll go wrong with any of the scopes you have listed.

Go to an actual store where can get your hands on all of the scopes you are considering. That will help you make your decision.

I concur with dougduey above. I Also have a Leupold vx5hd, three Zeiss v6 5-30 's , and two NF ATACRs 5-25 and 7-35.
Looked through several NXS scopes but the glass didn't suit my eye.
All three Zeiss scopes track perfectly and I have no issues with turret feel. The Shott glass is excellent and low light transmission is superb. They are considerably lighter than the NF. It would be my choice as a dedicated hunting scope.
Good luck

Thanks. Problem is the closest store that carries all of these is 3 hours away. Cabelas. Or scheels. The next best option is an hour drive away. I've seen the Swarovski z5 there. But I rarely go that direction. I have looked through the z 5 before. But hard to tell when you only look across a store. I'll be happy with it I'm sure. Liked my NXS. But the velocity reticle didn't match up with my 26 nosler. So I sold it. Plus it was the 56mm and It felt a pinch big. My decision has been made and I'm not going to call them and bother them again.

Zeiss V6 is my favourite scope right now and the turrets are quite positive on it! You can't really go wrong with any of the above scopes regardless!

Ordering a new gun in 300 PRC. Western hunting. Which of these brands/models would you put on top of it? I know the NF is the heaviest but aside from that what's your experiences?
I e had excellent with the zeiss scopes ! I've used them on elk, moose and deer all with excellent results zeiss is clear and tracks well !

Next time you're getting your eye checkup, take a look at all of the ophthalmology "hardware" in the treatment room. It's all Zeiss. So think about that for a moment

I was in the same pickle as you when contemplating the NF ATACR after owning and really liking the Zeiss v6. I worried the NF glass wouldn't measure up. My solution was to buy the first one on faith from a solid reputable online seller that allows 30 day return as long as the scope hasn't been mounted. The NF ATACR glass is very comparable to my eye and so it all worked out just fine. You might consider going that route.

I'm assuming this is your first "long range" set up based off of you getting that custom turret cut. I'd strongly suggest, if you want them to do the load work out, that they just do it in MOA and give you the data. That custom turret will realistically only work in about a 5% window of scenarios out to 1000 yards. 1 bullet, a very tight velocity window and a pretty tight elevation window. I'd suggest just learning the MOA turret and your drops with a ballistics calculator. I know the custom turret sounds super cool, but it is VERY limiting. Just like that reticle you had that was supposed to be laser engraved for a specific drop that never worked. That's basically what that custom turret is. Ditch it and learn your rifle, system and ballistics first hand. It'll make you a better shooter in the long run man 🤙🏼🤙🏼

I agree. But since it's part of the package deal they can do all of the ballistics work on the turret and everything. If it works well great. If not I'll also have the stock turret I can swap out and do my own. Also the problem right now is the Ammo. So I want to keep my shots down some. Ya You can get 300 PRC on gunbroker but $$$.

Just so happens, mine arrived today! Zeiss V6 3x18
