I am still in disbelief, but I checked the results today, and successful!!!

Area 4, the west side of the Grand Teton mountain range. I am a resident,, so the guide requirement in wilderness area is not a concern. I know this area is slightly different than the others, and I am going to spend the next 3 months scouting it out. I plan on contacting the local biologist and game warden for any tips, but has anyone here hunted the area or know someone that has? Or anyone that has hiked the mountains? I know grizzlies will be a concern, but I have never hunted goats, nor that area.

So, anybody have any insight?

I havent draw. But right above my old muley country goats hang.Ive walked right up to many wild goats, armslength, one put his head down and spooked me a bit.My area rugged anchor them type country or busted horns.I was bived in Highwood on high ridge ,my garbage bag wrap didnt do trick wet sleeping bag,I was out at 4am,when light i see this white in the lodgepole, and my lil brain says who packed a wall tent up here, onward I see its to goats side by side.Biggest billy i see was in that country, they shot booners off there and square butte

See if you can find anyone who previously drew a tag.
Since these are so rare, previous hunters are much more likely to be free with information since they'll probably never use it again.
They're your best source.
That is part of the problem, this area has only existed for a few years I guess, so to my understanding, the amount of people that have hunted it, total, is under 100.....

I think the East side of the Tetons had an extermination hunt last year. I know a couple that got the opportunity to kill goats there. Don't know about the West side. Good luck on your hunt and, conditioning.

Congrats Cody! I had a similar experience today. Drew my Wyoming Unit 26 Moose tag! Took 21 years...

Good luck Cody! I too drew a moose tag yesterday but went for the cow tag because I would be chasing a point creep for next, well too many years.

Was suppose to be in BC last year for bull shiras moose but didn't happen and won't this year either. Maybe next year !

What gun do u plan on taking?
I took my mtn goat 3 years ago in BC with 300 Norma improved 😉

I will be using my .338 Norma, using 250 SBDII bullets

Take plenty of time.

Play the weather get close to goat country, hole up if need be, strike when it clears.

Don't wear yourself out unproductively. Hike with a purpose

A good crew, a good spotting scope, and don't neglect looking a little lower just below the alpine.

Have fun, share pictures!
Thanks, great advice!

This will probably be my most documented hunt, I want to be able to share it with my kids and I'm not sure if even my oldest is up to the task, so I want them to be able to see it like me, or close to it
