Rechambering 7mm Rem Mag

Looking for opinions and caliber options to rechamber and re-barrel my Sako AV 7mm Rem Mag.
My hunting is in mainly in Northern MN for medium sized game but I am traveling to the west for elk and larger game to the north (moose, bear etc.). I have other 7 mags, 7STW and would like something different. The gun is a barreled action now and can work from there, the barrel is by no means shot out and is Magna-ported. 7mm Rem Mag is a great caliber and I do not dispute that, just looking to get a nice custom built on a SAAMI cartridge. 30 caliber and under a plus to accommodate my current suppressors.
My builder would rather not deal with opening feed ramps and messing with the overall length of the mag box.

You can kill anything that lives in N.A. with a 7mm RemMag, in fact with a 7x57.

Now if you just want a new toy, that's fine. But don't get sold a bill of goods that might mess up a good rifle.

99.9% of Elk, Moose and great Bears are shot well under 300 yards.

Completely agree sir, I would be lying if I said I have not considered keeping it the 7mm Rem Mag it wore from the factory. But I already have multiple and a new caliber is always a fun itch to try and scratch!

264Win Mag or 300win mag is what I'd consider since you already have a few other 7mm.

300win for 30 cal. and under... you might thing about the 338 win also though. Hard hitting and if you have enough barrel it isn't far behind the big 33's up to 250 grain pills with less recoil...

I already have a different Sako in 7mm STW. I believe you are correct that the 7mm STW would be too long for this action.

My choice would be a new 7rem mag with 1-8 barrel to shoot the 179 gr Nosler Accubond LR bullets or go to a 338 win mag with a 210-225 gr bullet

I just sent a barreled action off to be rebarreled to a 308 Norma Magnum.The rifle was a 338 Win Mag Ruger tang safety with one of those screwed up barrels.The mag box on this rifle is rather short too at around 3.4 inches or so.I've always thought about a 30-338,but after doing a little research,the 308 Norma Magnum seems to be a better choice.I can get factory made Norma ammo and brass,or I can make brass for it from 7mag,338 Win Mag or 300 Win Mag.Since I have a bunch of 7mag once fired brass and 30cal bullets,I felt like it was my best choice.Ballistics are about the same as the 300 WSM,300 H&H,so it really doesn't give up too much to the 300 Win Mag depending how either one is loaded.Here is some load data https://www.hodgdonreloading.com/reloading-data-center?rdc=true&type=54

That will be a great discussion with my builder if the 308 Norma Mag would be a build he would enjoy too. I will do my homework on the loadIn, thank you.
