7 SAUM load data

How is the temp stability of RL23? I am unfamiliar with it because I have never used it. I am in the high country of Idaho and we can go from 80 down to zero/freezing and back again in the few days is a hunt!

(might be a moot point with the shortage and run on all things firearms related)

RL23 is very stable. I shoot it from -4° to 115°, and have seen no issues. Nothing like RL22 or RL25, and not even like RL26 or RL33 when temps climb above 85°.

That is good to know. I have used a few of those others and had some velocity spikes in the summer. Now to find some 23....might have to do some trading.

My 7 saum was chambered with .220" freebore. It shoots the 175 eldx 2915 fps, from a 26" proof barrel. 58.5 gr h4831sc. I believe I ran into pressure signs at 60.5 gr. This is a conservative load, and shoots incredibly. I'm loading the 175 eldx .025" off lands.

This is what the freebore on mine is... crazy long. How much bullet do you have in the neck at .025" off? can't be much

It's not much. Here's a comparison pick. 7 saum, and 7mag. Both with the 175eldx. I'll take a better pic tonight with a bullet outside the case.

finally got to shoot this rifle... ran a ladder with N565 from 59-64 grains. 175 Berger on the left and 184 Berger on the right. Figured i would get pressure around 63 but didn't even get the slightest hint of any. Thinking the barrel should speed up a bit, but for now I'll keep working up until i see any signs.

Digging this thread up again... I have been working with N565 with both the 175's and 184's. I did not hit any signs of pressure on my load work up to 64 grains so I went higher and finally hit a slight bolt lift at 66 grains. This was with ADG brass and 210M primers. Looks like my node will be around 64 grains and 2920 FPS with a 22" barrel. Keep in mind this is with an extremely long throat. 3.22" COAL.

Side note, I am doing load work up with a friends 7 SAUM and nosler brass. Case capacity in the nosler vs ADG was very different. 64 grains was starting to get up in to the neck of the case with nosler… was not even close with ADG.

I am thinking that RL26 may be a better option with the nosler brass, little less bulky. I am thinking the 7 saum with nosler brass will run out of room before it hits pressure.
