What pack are you using?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what backpack or bug out bag you are using and why? I want something with a rifle scarab/holder for backpacking and hunting in Alaska. Primarily hunting Moose and Bear. How big of a pack are you using and what essentials are you putting in them.
 
There are lots of good youtube videos of guides doing their pack dumps and you can garner lots of info from that. Pack contents depend on the trip, the length of the trip, and the game. I use an EXO pack after trying a cabela's frame pack, a Barney's frame pack, the a Dana internal frame pack then a KUIU ico pro. The Exo is by far the best for me, but everyone's body is different. You need to spend some time trying them on if you can.
 
A bug out bag and a pack with scabbard for hunting in Alaska are two different bags in my mind. I really like my Mystery Ranch 3 day assault pack for trips to the whitetail woods and even a couple nights worth of hunts or short recon missions.

The outdoorsmans palisade 90 would be my pack for a trip to Alaska. Something in that range from any other manufacturer would work well I'm sure.
 
I am in the process of finding a new pack also. I think it may help if the people that answer the thread give us an idea of your size. This way we we can see if there is a type of pack that fits a certain build better than the others.
 
For a big 4 day + pack in type hunt I use the Kuiu 7200 with the carbon fiber frame--I also have a 3200 bag--and have used it as a day pack. For my daily hunt bag for going on a long day trip I use the outdoorsman Optics hunter--I think it called a palisade 90 now--I use the kifaru gun bearer universal for both packs.
 
I use the Outdoorsman Palisade with the Longrange bag. Have had several of the top of the line packs and for me the Outdoorsman is the ticket. Heavy packouts are not a problem at all and the pack is solid and very comfortable.
 
I bought a eberlestock x1 off this site years ago and never really used it. After my accident and losing my leg I use it extensively to carry my rifles or fishing gear. Being able to keep the wieght centered and stable is paramount for me. I also have 4 bulged disks in my lumbar so I will tell you pack fit is everything. You really need to try everything you can get your hands on and not just walk around town but load it up and go on a trip just like your hunting a full day or better yet a weekend will tell you if you love it or hate it.

I have a Horn Hunter Main Beam XL. Don't overlook these. More budget friendly and durable.

I packed out an animal with mine last year. A hose off, and still in great shape.

I am sure others are great packs too, but the Horn Hunter are worth a look.
