.280 ai twist

Nothing to worry about, enjoy the site, soak up the knowledge found here, and welcome to the .280 AI group! Can't go wrong with either twist but would make it a little faster than the 9 if it were me. I know it's not. Keep us posted
Thank you, the amount of information on this site never ceases to amaze me! The fact I can ask a question like that and less than an hour later have enough responses to feel confident enough to order the barrel is pretty awesome!

Hey all, recently decided to have APR build my first custom rifle in 280ai. Going with a 24" proof. I was thinking I would go with the 1:8.4 twist but talking to APR on the phone they were recommending 1:9 twist... I'm torn, what do you guys think? I don't really have a specific bullet I'm planning on running, just factory ammo for now and work my way into reloading with the lee press I've had in a box for 5 years...
I am having a 7STW built at GAP as we speak. I went with the 8.7 Bartlein that they recommended. I told them it was an antelope/deer rifle and I was planning on 145 LRX or 150-160 hammers. I also went 28" 3b contour. I know it is different hp than your 280ai, but maybe my info will help. I didn't need elk performance. I have a pair of 338s that I use for that.

Stockys has a 1/8.24 twist Sendero light proof. I'm using one to build a 7WSM or a 7SAUM. $729 and used coupon 10OFF for additional 10% off. Great buy and no tax either.
Did you get this barrel yet? That is what I ordered, and they sent me an 8 twist instead 🤬 waiting on a call back now. Looks like in their website all they have in stock is the 8 twist so I think they just sent it hoping o wouldn't catch it!

Just an update for everyone since I'm all excited now haha. Sent the 8 twist back to stockys stocks and found a 24" 1:8.4 sendero from evolved ballistics that I received Friday. Sent the barrel off to Alamo precision rifles today and talked to Hunter on the phone to finalize everything with the build, he was awesome to deal with! Now just need to find a scope hahaha
