Went to the gun show this weekend not.loohing good any time soon!

I went to the gun show here in GA and it's not going to get better for May be the next four years . There was lots of ammo that was super high .Its funny it depends how popular a round is to how high it is .
Take 338 win mag it was like $45 before this it's about $65 now that's enough increase .Then look at 45 colt it was $25 for 50 now it's $200 for 50 .The regular old 3030 3006 and 270 that was $20 is now $60 a box of 20.Your regular box of 22 bulk pack that was $20 is now $125.
The more popular it is the higher it went .Its crazy and these gun shows and gunbroker are making the prices go shy high .These people have runners that get ammo in stores all over and have bots on their phones to buy out suppliers in 5 seconds some times .Thats why you can't get anything they are hording it and driving up the prices . Dang 9 mm new whole sale for 50 fmj is $99.99 and will be $200 at the store .Guns were crazy too ruger Americans were $600.Ar 15 were $1000 and more .The scary part there were tons of gang members buying tons of ammo and getting their girl friends to buy guns for them . It really hurts us with these prices . There is no way to go dove hunting any more or prarrie dog hunting or target shoot all day long .I bought three things at the gun show only bargins besides a win model 70 458 in perfict shape $950 and a browing eclipse 270 with a boss for $700 .I don't see normal comimg back .I am buying lead a bunch of it to cast bullets to be able to shoot any .I am not shooting up my jackets bullets .One guy there is buying blank 223 to cut down to make 300 black out dangerous it's loaded .I like swap meets between people best that way no high prices would like to see more here this is the best shooting forum I am on .

I thought that is how they were made before headstamped brass was available.

I remember when I was a kid, my.parents always told me to not laugh at the class clown, it only encourages the poor behavior and is detrimental to the learning environment. Speculatimg about how long this issue might persist, and just how "bad" it is is just like acknowledging the class clown.. I'm as pained by this as the next person, but my approach is to pay it no attention, and let it calm down. Not trying to pick a fight or devalue another person's opinion, just throwing out another thought for consideration.

More and more powders are hitting the stores and online every day. Even primers are starting to pop up time to time. There was a high demand and the factories were not anticipating it. That's all. They are not going to rebuild the Hodgdon plants and double production size for a 6 month powder scare. Most of these powders are imported anyways, so one country having a crisis is not going to change a world wide industry. It will come back to normal when people stop panic buying.

in my opinion, gun shows havent been a good place to buy stuff since before the sandy hook induced panic of 2013. it's been way cheaper to catch a sale for something online and buy it there. anderson lowers were usually $60-$80 depending on the seller. you could catch them online for $30-$35 sometimes. even with the FFL fee it was cheaper than the gun show. primary arms used to have sales every single weekend it seemed.

the only thing i'd usually buy were MRE's as they usually $3-$5 each and military surplus manuals and clothing. the only deal i found was a company out of georgia that sold match .308 for about a $1 a round that my rem 700 loved and match .223 for less than $1 a round. i'd also go in and buy all the loose AR15 lower parts (springs, detents, etc). you could also find deals on Pmags for $8-$10 if looked around enough.

i usually only used the shows to go hold a pistol or factory rifle to determine if i wanted it. then i'd buy it online or go to a local gun store if i had to have it right away.

Same here in TX went saturday crazy prices on ammo and even guns 20% over list price on many.

I have actually heard from shop owners that attend gun shows state they increase prices for the show. Then drop back down when at the shop. It is no longer the gun shows where you can find a deal on the parts or hard to find items anymore.

You also have the freakshow selling an extremely over priced rifle that tells you this rifle was built in such and such shop. When you ask them for the name of the gunsmith they look at you crazy, because you may just happen to know some of those dudes. It is shameful...

I didn't see any powder except old stuff at the gun show .They wanted $45 a pound which was way better than $100"a pound on gun broker .
I didn't think you could trim a case with a primer and powder in the case .That seems like not to bright of am idre .I had a primer go off on me on a Lee load all that ended that idea I bought a dillion .It seemed the whole gun show revolved around 9 mm .I use to go to gun shows to get a good buy and look at awrsome wood guns .
There are guns shows almost every weekend now which is good but if prices keep going up people won't buy anything .There was tons of ammo at the show but half of it was 9 mm .There were no new primers just old ones they dug out for $200 a 1000 .There was very little brass and hardly any bullets .We will see what the next two shows I an going to hold .I really like trading stuff that's the best way not to get ripped off .I started a group buy for lead to get it at wholesale price we have to get 20 to 49 people together but the cost is only 40 percent of regular price a good deal for all . There has to be group buys on ammo and guns but they disapeared with this shortage .
There are bills in Congress to limit us to one box a month of 50 rounds of ammo with a $25 tax on it . There are also bills to ban lead on all pubic lands even to target shoot with .We take lead for granted it's cheap and it works awesome wrapped in copper 8.There is no telling whats next with this .I just know primers at $300 to 600 per 100 and powder from $50 a pound to $100 is no fun .I teach a youth shooting group and we just got a new shooting range built but without decient priced ammo we won't be shooting as much . We are going to cast a ton of bullets to let them shoot as much as we can .I was looking forward this new 300 yard range to teach kids to shoot further .I hope things get better I just don't see it for a good while .

People are insane buying at some of these inflated prices. It's not that hard to find stuff right now. Primers are tough, I will say that. But other "impossible to find items" aren't near as hard as some people seem to think.

Midway, Midsouth and powder valley are dropping powder daily, about every 2 weeks somebody will have pretty much any Berger bullet you want in stock, Natchez has had 9mm 1000 rd cases about twice a week etc. I walked into a Cabelas the other day and they had enough 5.56 for every person in the store to buy 100 rounds.

agreed, got my norinco SKS at a gunshow in georgia back in 2003 for $90! 20 rounds of steel 7.62 was $3 at academy back then. it wasnt in perfect condition, but i changed the stock and refinished it so it didnt matter.

Making 300Blk from 223/556, is the only way to do it on the cheap. At about the same price as reloaded 223/556, with very little effort.
