I've been looking for awhile for one of these & finally found one, a 516. Came with a 2-6x Bushnell. I took it out & ran some handloads that I'd already had worked up for another 260 rifle. Hornady 129sp over H4350. I was surprised when I didn't even have to adjust the scope for the load at 50 & 100yds. I was impressed to say the least as it shot a 1.1" 4 shot group at 100 & a bug hole group at 50 with no load work up. I'm not sure where I should be but the velocity was 2540' with an ES of 24. Recoil was pretty mild & I didn't even turn the brake on. I'm wanting to a winter project to accurize this & probably upgrade the optics. This will be a steel banger & Wisconsin bean field pistol. I'm looking for suggestions on optics & the best way to accurize, bedding, maybe even reconfiguring the stock if needed, trigger work or replacement ect. This is my first hunting pistol so those with more experience, your knowledge & input will be much appreciated. Thanks Gents! Kevin

Congrats.

If you want a good as possible trigger, then one would need to replace pot metal parts with good steel (which would be pricey) Contact Chris Rhodes/Bayside Custom Gunworks (Newcastle, WY).

Thanks Ernie, if I restock it would it have to be glass bedded? Do you know if Chris Rhodes would just sells the parts? I've got a great gunsmith near me to do the work.

If you have a great smith, let him do the work. A new stock would need rebedding.
Christ doesn't have trigger parts. If he made/sold you the trigger parts he wouldn't just send them to you

Awesome, yes my friend John is an excellent smith in the truest meaning of the word. What would you suggest as far as a scope upgrade?

Types of hunting and shooting you want to do with it? Muzzle brake? Long range shooting?
I'll run this barrel for awhile but will probably upgrade to a custom one but stay with the 260. I already reload for one but I might go to an AI version but will definitely go with a faster twist than the factory one. The ballistics on the 260 are great so I'm one for pushing the limits on distance. My eyes aren't what they used to be & a 6x scope I believe would be limiting if I got over 200 yds. I'd like to have an accurate setup good for 5-600 yards. I'll shoot steel mainly for long range practice but hunting is the main goal.

If you get a good solid bottom brake put on it, a rifle scope will give you more flexibility IMO.

A Ross brake has no holes or ports on the bottom. His will be good enough to let you safely use a rifle scope on your Striker, if you decide to go that way

Ok, that was my inclination. Thx. I'm not a fan of radial brakes personally. Out of curiosity, what would you recommend as far as a scope? Are there any in the Vortex line? I know you mentioned the Sightron Siii.

Budget?
First or second focal plane?
Holland's Radial baffle brake does not have holes all the way around it...It has a solid bottom like Ross' brake. It is more effective, but I don't think you need to step up for the cartridge you are using.

Most of my scopes are second focal plane, I'm a $6-650 kinda guy as far as scopes. I'd like to splurge on one of the S111's but its a bit out of my budget right now.
