I bet rice mixed with very fine reptile ground walnut shell bedding would be great option since the rice would absorb a lot of the carbon crap. I have found that the fine walnut bedding does not clog primer flash holes and the added surface area of the finer particles cleans faster.

I tried to mix lots of other things with the rice... the rice on its own is what I keep coming back to.
I've done that , it works but is slow. Apparently they add some type of polish or rouge to the shells when sold for tumbling media.
I switched to rice a year or so ago after reading the posting here and viewing the video at Primal Rights. It seems to work just as well as corn cob media for me. Something I would add is to put one or more sheets of unscented fabric softener dryer sheets in with the rice and brass. This picks up the crud and keeps the rice cleaner.
Does tumbling with rice leave the carbon in the necks?
Will work very well, as well as walnut shell!

It leaves the necks in what I would consider is the best condition I've seen from mass-processed brass. VERY accurate and precise results from this method.

Go wet, stainless jewelers pins, drop of Dawn some Limey Shine.
No need to buy a grain crusher, takes less time to clean. Takes green/black buried in the dirt for years brass to looking like new in under an hour.

It's good 2 have the wet tumbler for the old bad brass. But It has cons like pins sticking and waiting for brass to dry. I like my vibratory better. Personally
Orkan, have you tried the rice in a tumbler as opposed to a vibratory cleaner?
Also, have you compared the cleaning efficiency of the ground/cut rice vs. whole rice at equal cleaning time for a particular case size?

I actually add standard walnut media 50/50 to the pet store reptile media which then results in a really nice turn over flow in my vibratory cleaner. I will try some rice and maybe a fabric softener to catch some of the crap that builds up in the media.
