Scope for around 2k - Colorado/Wyoming hunting

I have the NX8 4-32 and I love it. It as well as any FFP at low power will be difficult to see in dark timber with low light. Turning the illumination will help quite a bit. I walk around with mine on 6-8 power helps with reticle size.

I've had the mark 5 for two seasons now and it has passed tracking tests for me and has a good enough reliability that gunwerks and the military have chosen them for their primary go to long range scope. Great clicks, great locking turret with zero stop, and great glass. Lots to talk about. A few threads on here comparing nx8 with the mark V. Google mark V vs Nx8 and geek out. My nx8 is currently on the way but I've been behind a few. Both have there place and both are great choices. Make it easy and get both!-)

FFP:
Maven RS3--good weight, good glass, nice folks that work in WY. $1600
Leupold Mark5-- good weight, good glass, good tracking-hate the 35mm tube--$2k
Bushnell DMRII--decent glass, good tracking, good reticle,a little on the portly side, inexpensive--$750 now...
March--I have not "used" the scope but the 2 I have played with were nice

SFP
X line of Swarovski--a little over your price point but dead solid.
V6 line of Zeiss--again--never owned one--but did shoot behind one--and it seemed really nice.

I see a lot of folks like the nightforce NX8--I didn't like the glass, and the tube mounting spacing they could have made it a bit easier. But I am sure it is a solid scope, I had a couple NXS and they were spot on other than they were exceedingly heavy. There ACATAR line is very good

Wish the Tangent Theata hunter was 2k...I might spring for one--but not for $4k

Looking for a hunting scope for my Bergara Highlander. I am fine either SFP or FFP, both seem to have their benefits. I am looking at the Nightforce NX8 4-32x50. Does anyone have any experience with this scope? How does the reticle look at 4x for a FFP? Shots in Colorado can be close and want to make sure the reticle is visible lol. Anyone compare this to an NXS?

I really like the Vortex Gen 2 for the price, but it is SO heavy.

I am open to any other scopes too
Look at Swarovski Z-5 3-18 under a pound

All the scopes you have mentioned are really nice, and I think any of them would serve you well. We have a 30 day full refund (as long as the condition of the scope is the same) if you don't like something.

I have nx8 2.5x20 ffl and love it. I had same concern with the reticle being visible at low power. The illumination makes it work. Next rifle will be 300 PRC and I'll buy another nx8.

I love the mark 5 for the money. Great scope and used one a lot. Another option is March. They're very nice, especially if you can find a sale. I wish the swaro X5i was lighter, but they're very solid and can be found for a good deal in the classifieds. Same with the X5 if you don't need illumination.

Zeiss v6 is a great option too. I have a 5-30 on my hunting rifle right now and it's awesome, great zero stop amazing glass and fairly lightweight for a scope with that mag range. The 3-18 looks amazing too and that'll probably be my next scope
Second the V6 3-18, esp for the money and only 23 oz

Are you happy with the highlander, been looking at those for a while, not many to be had, never seen one in person. Thanks

I have the NX8 4-32 sfp. Better than the NXS optically and lighter. I elk hunt in an area that has big timber so I opted for the SFP so I could see the reticle clearly there. The glass is not on par with the Swarovski or Zeiss scopes in my estimation but my eyes are getting old and tired. Would I buy another NX8 - yes.

I have the 4-32 NX8 MOAR FFP. Love it! picking up another one in a couple of weeks. If you are concerned about close shots the SFP would be an option. For the type of hunting/country I do the FFP scopes make more sense. If I don't have time to dial my hold overs are the same no matter the magnification. In the price range you are talking, you have tons of options. Good luck!
