I only have semi auto 22's but have a ton of ammo and thinking about getting a bolt gun for range practice to save my target run's barrel for mostly matches and to save components/cost. I could pay for a $500 gun inside of 6 months of shooting.

I'm looking for a full sized bolt 22lr with as good of accuracy as $500 will buy and a decent trigger.

I could put a barrel and trigger on one of my 10/22's but would rather have a bolt gun.

Note I already have a good scope to use.

I've been looking at the CZ 457 Trainers. They seem really nice. Have only peeked at the T1x but will take a look.

I just started shooting F Class with a 6.5CM setup and it's $.65 every time you pull the trigger plus the barrel wear and components are hard to find so I don't want to run out this year of my stock.

At $500 total for a rifle that's 769 rounds fired to break even. I'll do that in 6 months or less. And save that many rounds of barrel wear.

I have ~ 12k of good 22 ammo and a good scope so all I need is the rifle.

I just have a cheap 20 year old base model savage mark II that I use as a bolt gun to practice with. Trigger is terrible and the stock leaves a lot to be desired, but it shoots. It hits consistently and easily out to 300 yards on a 12x12 plate with Norma match. Some of the new savages with the accu-trigger look nice. I think they are at least worth a look. However, the Tikka and CZ look great too.

In that price point, a CZ 455 or 457 may serve you well. My 455 Varmint has been my go-to small game rifle for a few years now and shoots very well. Just put a new scope on it a few weeks ago and zeroed at 50 yards, here's the results. The group at lower right is the first shots on paper while holding center bullseye. Next 3 shots after adjustment include the little flier above the center bullseye, but otherwise the other two were on target. The next 12 rounds were fired on center, and the last 3 at top right were from an unsupported position.

I have a Savage Model 93 17 hmr and it's quite accurate for such a cheap gun with a terrible stock. I'm not a fan of the accu-trigger. I don't like the blade but this gun has one and it is quite good for what it is.

I want something more robust and full sized. I don't mind spending a little more knowing how much I am saving on component costs and barrel wear for my real target gun.

If that's anything like my Lapua match or Eley, it was $12 - $15 for a box of 50 *before* this scarcity. LOL
Ya, I was actually getting it for $6-8 for a box of 50 before. I am sure the price is up there now. Luckily I have a stash! Lol

I have tons of CCI Mini mags and standard velocity. It will be plenty accurate for training. I just want to be able to shoot more and reload less and save wear on my target gun. Primers, powder and bullets are really hard to find right now but I have enough to last this year's matches worth.
