Talley Ring issues?

Has anyone had issues with Talley light weight rings? I have 4 sets on other rifles with no issues so far. I recently purchased a set of high rings with the stud for my AnTi action. I had a set of mediums on there and they fit perfect and 30mm scope fit perfect as well. I changed scopes so had to go with highs to get the bolt to clear the ocular housing.

When the rings arrived only one had a stud and the scope wouldn't fit into the bottom portion of the aft ring without some serious force? Instead of forcing the scope down I decided to lap the rings. After lapping it was pretty apparent that there was a burr along the entire left bottom portion where the top and bottom rings meet.

So I took pictures and emailed Talley last Monday (18Jan) and no response so far? I'm not sure the stud is really needed, but if I paid extra for it I should get it. Also, the scope not fitting due to the rings not being smoothed surprises me.

Anyone have quality issues recently with Talley? How's their customer service? I'm hearing crickets from them right now.

Morning! I like to use Talley's quite a bit on my Savage builds, but have not yet experienced any 'quality control issues' with them. It's very possible to get a 'lemon' now and then, however. I have noticed that a bit of 'moderate force' was needed on occasion to properly seat the scope into the rings, but nothing that would cause me great concern. I always bed my scopes to the rings (using JB Quick Weld) and do not lap them as lapping tends to void return policies. Bedding will peel right out of them after a little heat is applied and you'd never know it had been done.

I had the same problem on a Stiller Predator action. I just mounted without the studs. I have no thoughts why they're needed.

I had the same issue but instead of them not fitting the gun, they wouldn't fit the scope.

ordered some for my XPR to put on an Athlon Midas BTR, and the scope wouldn't even fit in one of the rings. Talley claims they shouldn't be lapped... but they weren't even round enough for the scope to sit in. There was at least .1 inches of air beneath the scope when I set them in the rings. I had to send them back for replacement because I'm not going to pay someone else to fix talley's problem by lapping them. The replacement ones worked but makes me not want to buy talley's again.

I ordered a set a few weeks ago and one ring was for a different receiver. Called them and they made it right. First order of probably 50 or so iv had a problem with. Call them. They will take care of it..

First experience was good. Rem 700 30-06. Light weight rings were lapped and NF NSX mounted. Worked well.

I had them give me advice on these on another rifle. Rep was FOS. Rings arrived and not even close to what I needed. Too low and obj lens would not allow clearance. Second issue on rifle. Rings came unbuttoned from the action. Rem 700 308 with a ZeissV4. Could be my fault but I used blue loctite and torqued per their specs.
Lost confidence in them.

Now everything is in a pic rail with sturdy rings for peace of mind.
