NX8 2.5-20 vs NXS 5.5-22 please provide your opinion

I'm in the market for a new scope and looking at the NXS 5.5-22 and NX8 2.5-20 line. I'm reading some reviews saying the NX8 has some issues with "tunnel vision " at high magnification as well as poor eye box / eye relief. If I'm not worried about weight or length would I be better off going with the NXS line for those reasons?

NX8 glass is significantly better...but the 4-32 is also much better than its little brother optically. Both scopes have finicky parallax but the 4-32 is manageable. Neither have sharp edge to edge clarity either. Eye box is definitely better on the 4-32. I own both. The 2.5-20 will be for sale shorty. If your up in the air between NXS and the 2 NX8's, the 4-32 is a much better option. Used NX8 4-32's can be found for around $1800. Wait for a new one to hit about the $1850-1900 range and snag it up. Well worth it.

Instead of those you could get the best of both worlds with the ATACR. It is a few hundred dollars more than the NX8 but it is a great scope. It will match or exceed the NX8 with glass and doesn't have finicky eye boxes. I have one on my 28N that is soon to be rebarreled to a 30N.

Having owned both, I'd opt for the NX8 over the NXS. I tried the 4-32 NX8 f1 & wasn't happy with the f1 model. Replaced that with the NX8 2.5-20 f2. Really happy with it so far. I find the glass to be excellent & have no issues with clarity on all settings.
Parallax is not a problem for me. Eye box is also manageable with proper cheek weld consistency.

I have several NF scopes, but not the NX8. I think all the NXS scopes are second focal plane and NX8 is first? The ATACR is considerably heavier than a NXS and is also second focal plane. I am REALLY HAPPY with all my NF scopes! You can, and I have, find many used but like new NF scopes on this forum for good prices. Which ever one you pick , I'm sure you will be happy with it. Mighty hard to beat a NF!

Both the NX8 and ATACR are available in FFP and SFP.

I did the same thing, got the NX8 4x32 F1 and hated the reticle covering small targets at long range. Just sold it to get the NX8 4-32 F2.
I also have a NXS 8-32x56 that I won in a match. MOAR-T reticle. F1 I Love it.
