Carbon Fiber Tripod - Recommend me a setup

Most spotting scopes have a 1/4-20 adapter that you can secure a plate. I believe the Swarovski already has a "foot" that is ARCA compatible or you can purchase a balance plate like what Outdoorsmans sells.

I currently use an Outdoorsmans stud on my EL binoculars. I will be switching to a "Cinch" for my binos.

Thanks to you all, I have my mind firmly wrapped around the mechanics of connecting rifles to these tripods through the various options.

I need to figure out what the best options are for optics too. I will take a look at the link you posted.

Yes it's similar to the hog/pig saddle just RRS design/manufactured/quality. Locks into the Anvil if you get it with the ARCA rail. You could use whatever clamp you'd like as long as it has an ARCA plate on the bottom. The RRS just looks to be a better solution to me.

I don't understand all the kickback to having the option of running pretty much any rifle on the tripod whether it's yours or a hunting buddies. Vyce isn't instead of ARCA for me, it's in addition to. If the rifle will take a rail that would be the best way. My chassis has the ARCA. The finer stocks as well as hunting buddies, etc. could still use the support.

That looks like a great solution for a rifle without a rail. Thanks for sharing. This looks much better than a hog or pig saddle.
 
That BTX rail looks very nice but man that is a lot of money to pay. You could just get a quick release camera plate from a photography store. Arca Swiss is a standard in the photography world. Many of brand stuff out there for cheap.
 
Yes I'm a newbie here. But a long long time lurker. I could not justify spending a lot of cash on a really nice setup on tripod and heads. So I did the cheaper China made on Amazon.



$280 total and I've used it this year varmint hunting, deer hunting and hog hunting. It works great. Very Very stable and very strong. It's not sand bag bench steady but steady enough for me to take kills over 500 yards.

I'll probably get hammered on this but dang spending $1500 to $2000 on a tripod I just couldn't justify no more than I use it.

My TFCT 24L RRS tripod is sand bag steady from the standing position. I am shooting sub MOA at 500 yards without kneeling or laying on the ground. Setting up the tripod is easier than laying a mat on the ground or dragging a bench out in the field. My time is valuable and so is my back. For the next decade I can't imagine how much time and effort this tripod will save just to go out and target shoot or develop loads. A 34L will be even more steady than my 24L.

My $1400 spent in America kept a worker employed for a day. My money spent in America probably saved both you and me some tax dollars in welfare or unemployment that didn't have to be spent. I live on county laborer's wage and pack my lunch every day. Damned if I'm going to send any more money than I have to to enrich china. My grandkids are coming of military age and my money will not be paying for the military might of a potential enemy. I'm proud I was able to live frugally to be able to purchase this high quality piece of USA engineering.
 
I use a Outdoorsmans Tripod with a Jim White head and Tri-Clawps rest for my long range hunting standing shots and it is a solid platform. I have no issue making 500 yard sub MOA shots. About $825 total and all made in the USA Arizona.

It's the tall. Not cheap by any means but very well made. The Jim White 2.0 head also takes ARCA plates as well as the plates it comes with. Easy peasy to snap one item off and another on. Check out Outdoorsmans.com or call the guys. Great company. One of the Owners is Jim Dunham of "Western Outdoors".

I'm a huge fan of the Outdoorsmans and have a bunch of their stuff. I eventually will be getting a second tripod because I often find myself wanting two In the field. The Jim White head pans/tilts smooth, which I think is essential for shooting video. The ball head on the RRS is "great" for shooting and "good" for glassing. I'm saving my pennies LOL
