I have a Shepherd Scope it has never lost zero in 15 years of hunting it has fully multi coated optics I have the 3 to 10 x 40 model how ever they now have 4 to 16 x 50 models . They were used by military for years and you have a duel reticle system and first focal plane range finder along with graduation at top and right side that shows how many clicks of wind age or Elevation you have dialed from zero so you can't forget you Dialed off zero . They won't break the bank either . At around $850.00

I experienced a brand new VX6 on a customer's rifle fail literally on the 2nd shot trying to zero after mounting. Came back from recoil after first shot and my crystal clear image was completely blurry. No matter where I put the parallax it was still horribly blurry. Needless to say the customer was NOT happy. Just one of many bad experiences with the VX line of scopes. I won't even work with them anymore

I've replaced almost all my Leups.....
Great scopes, also by LO in Japan. I have two of the 4.5-18x44 and am thoroughly impressed with them.I've replaced almost all my Leups.....

Sorry you had problems with yours. Had 1 my 300rum for years,no problems. Just put a razor on it last year.

For those of you with an NX8 will the 2.5-20 work with the Hawkins Hybrids on a long action with how short the tube is?

Had a VX6 3-18 fail while on a hunt in Colorado after I fell over while climbing up a hill. Wasn't expecting it to be dead on by any means but it was shooting 3 minutes left when I was able to check my zero. Called Leupold and they said that would "normal". However it never damaged the scope on the outside. Was not a major fall I really tripped and the gun went down with me. See the photo for my reply.
I have used and sighted in many scopes for myself and other people in the past. My conclusion is for cheaper plinkers (p-dogs)sightron SIII tracks well and is adequate for budget use As well as some of the leupolds. When my life, buck of a lifetime, and reputation are on the line it is NF that I count on. My rifles are used year round in harsh environments and rugged terrain As well as in and out of a truck and off and on an ATV multiple times a day. I have accidentally had things happen to rifles with NF scopes on them(too horrific to mention)and not once 
have I had one off it's original zero. I have missed and I have dialed incorrectly but I have not had one that it was the scopes fault. Any other scope I use I get that paranoid feeling that it might have lost its zero. I am not intentionally abusive to my equipment but it is well used and depended one. When I need confidence i use a Nightforce. My 2 cents.

I just had a range day with a Nx8 on a long action with Hawkins hybrids. There was only a 1/4 inch of real estate on the tube available to move for eye relief.
if you have a short LOP this WILL cause problems if you use Hawkins hybrids.
