Carbon Fiber Tripod - Recommend me a setup

Exactly. Prone off a bipod or bp is not always an option.
Never intended to imply anyone is/was less capable as a shooter. I'm a minimalist & believe the less gadgets you use the better off you are. There might be a time when you don't have your gadgets. I hope I didn't mention bipod. I only wanted to mention shooting with natural braces, your sling, or off of your pack that has your essentials in it.

I'm using a Bogen 3221 tripod with a Bogen pan head and the Bog Pod Deathgrip. The whole setup weighs 9.5 pounds but that weight translates into a very steady setup. Right now I only use it for chucks and I do not have to carry it far. If I was hunting long distances from the road then a carbon fiber tripod would replace the 3221.

The Bog Pod Deathgrip is unique in that I can use it with every rifle I hunt with. I do not have to buy extra plates or attachments for each gun. I even use it to sight in my crossbow. A very versatile piece of equipment.

Check out photo / video stores such as B&H Photo and Adorama. I would bet you could get a better price there than at a gun store.

I don't understand why you would want a "Vyce"? You could buy a lot of nice titanium ARCA plates for your rifles.
Not every rifle is going to have a rail. With the Vyce you can switch back and forth and accommodate all of them. Where would you propose the ARCA plates go on say this rifle? No thanks.

I'm not sure that I know what a vyce is unless it's something like a hog/pig saddle. For a smaller option for those finer wood stocks rather than mounting an Arca rail and if you can live with a small screw hole near your bottom metal. You could install a t-nut at the balance point of your rifle. Then you could screw in a Arca Swiss quick release camera plate which is easily removable and can be mounted to a tripod. The 2 standard sizes for tripod screws are either 1/4-20 or 3/8-16. I don't know if T nuts come in these sizes but it's something I've been thinking about for a few of my ruffles.

Yes it's similar to the hog/pig saddle just RRS design/manufactured/quality. Locks into the Anvil if you get it with the ARCA rail. You could use whatever clamp you'd like as long as it has an ARCA plate on the bottom. The RRS just looks to be a better solution to me.

I don't understand all the kickback to having the option of running pretty much any rifle on the tripod whether it's yours or a hunting buddies. Vyce isn't instead of ARCA for me, it's in addition to. If the rifle will take a rail that would be the best way. My chassis has the ARCA. The finer stocks as well as hunting buddies, etc. could still use the support.

Here's the link again

Or run the Hog/Pig saddle

Are you ordering the VYCE with the QD plate option or direct thread option?

I'm trying to make sure I understand how the VYCE attaches to the Anvil-30.

Thanks again.

I would get the QD/ARCA option. That allows it to quickly interchange with a rifle that has an ARCA plate, spotter, etc.
Ok, so the VYCE just slips into the Anvil-30, just like any other ARCA plated piece of equipment.

From there, you just tighten down the VYCE on rifles that don't have ARCA or Picatinny rails that would go straight into the Anvil-30.

I just wanted to make sure that the VYCE went into the Anvil-30 and not directly onto the tripod.

Another question.....how do you mount ARCA rails onto spotting scopes and binoculars so that you can attach them to the Anvil-30?
