Does anyone have any experiences with the 220 grain Bergers ? Thinking of trying them in a Ridgeline 300 PRC. Intentions were to begin load workup with 215's and 230's, but they seem hard to come by. Midway has the 220's, but it make me nervous that they are available and the 215 and 230 aren't. And the fact I haven't seen any posts on here about them. This is going to be a hunting rig, so wanting to stay with bullets proven on critters. Not a Hornady fan.

The 220 is a "tipped" bullet meaning the meplat has basically been reduced/uniformed and in turn closed more, so they would not be good for hunting. Try to wait for the 215 if at all possible, lots of good data surrounding them.

We have a few kills with the 190gr 7mm LRHTs and their performance is devastating. They are entering with about 2-3" of penetration and the exploding. Bullet fragments are being recovered on the opposite hide. Very quick kills. I would expect the 220 to perform the same. I was afraid the pointed tips would preclude expansion but it appears to be the opposite.

Dude that's good to hear!
Any reason why you chose the 190 LR hybrid over the 195's?
What ranges were the kills, and what species?

Do you recall the distances with the 190's? Do you think distance matters?

See distance above. Yes it can matter but with kills at short and medium I feel good about the results so far.

They're new and there's really neglible gain over the 215 in a WM so I don't think anyone really has much motivation to try them. In your position I would jump on them.
