Anyone using a Witt Machine Brake ?

300 Win Mag. I have 4 with Witt brakes. Launched one because I didn't follow the instructions and use blue locktite. Put it back on properly and no issues with hundreds of rounds.

If you are and want some extra screws for taking it off for cleaning, I now have lots. I had an Allen wrench break and mess up one of my screws. Went to get 4 extra, and had to buy a whole bag. So now I have 99 left over lol

Anyway, I'm curious what rifles you are using them on.
I assume that you didn't follow their torque settings??

This is their Mounting Instructions page.

That would be you trying to "assume" it came with instructions. Im lucky it got here apparently and Witt won't reply to emails. It came flopping around loose in a small flat rate box.
I bought my brakes from them at least 8 years ago and I remember there being an instruction sheet and if I remember correctly, a torque recommendation was on their website as well.

In this day and age, any business not answering emails or calls is just asking for trouble

Sorry to hear about yours

I wasn't being a smartass with my reply. It was a cheap Allen wrench that broke. I was excited to get it on, and grabbed one off the desk, instead of getting Dewalt bits.

This is all that came. Flat rate box, small piece of brown paper, and the brake.

I tightened them as tight as I could with one hand and the screwdriver. Im going to test fire it today.

No my friend I didn't take it that way!

Yes that looks like a pretty cheap way to sell something and hopefully you will have some luck with it. I forgot by now what the torque was but I would assume that it has to be damm tight. As long as you have it on tight it should work as described...mine significantly cut down on recoil and jump

Two test shots and the Witt didn't budge. Now honestly, I'm not sure it changed the recoil. Ill do a video comparison to see the difference.

The muzzle blast is now so bad it would make anyone flinch. My small "rifle friendly" ear muffs were not enough for it, my ears are ringing loudly lol

Ask them for a refund. I bought one for a tactical shotgun that I built but when I shot it the pattern poi were shifting on every shot. Took me 20 rounds of OO buck to realize that the wadding was hitting the brake. I toot it off and it shot perfect.
I sent it back with a note and they did refund me

what caliber
.300 RUM

I'm going to put ear plugs under my muffs, and get my son to video it. I'll compare it to a video shooting the rifle before the brake. I'll edit my other post until I've had time to put 20+ through it in one sitting. Im not recoil sensitive at all, and the RUM is nothing compared to my .375.

That blast though, geez

I edited my first post. Im going to do a video comparison to see if recoil appears different. Maybe the noise increase just took me by surprise.
