Hello all. Lately ive been tinkering with some 6.5 stuff and and have put some other projects on the back burner. For a change up, I broke out old faithful, a Remington 700, .308 with a 20 inch barrel in a magpul chassis. Absolutely shoots lights out with 168gr. Federal gold medal match ammo. Does anyone have that recipe? Ammo is gettingbtough to get buck luckily I have some components. Thanks

IIRC (it's been a long time since I made any) 42gr IMR 4064, F210M, Federal Brass, 168gr SMK.

For what it's worth, I'm using 43.2g of 4064 in Lapua brass with CCI BR-2 primers and the 175g SMK pills at 2.820" COAL (mag length) in my PRS rig. I'm getting about 2715 fps (ES ~ 15 fps, SD ~ 6 fps for 10 shots) from my 26" 5R Bartlein/Defiant setup and maintaining 0.3-0.5 MOA 5 shot groups at 300 yards. No pressure signs at all.

I have the same gun. I shoot 168 gr anything well but settled with the amax for deer. 43.5 gr of varget. The 4064 was good and the 4895 but the varget was a smudge better

Agreeing with you. It's hard to beat a 308 or 30-06. You don't need the latest and greatest fancy dohicky humbug ooh wow cartridge to kill meat.

I have broken down some older 168 FGMM. That FGMM used approximately ~43gr of 4064, my loads are 43 to 43.2gr depending on brass. My loads developed before I ever broke some down. Its a widely known accuracy node. The newer lots are using 40ish grains of a different powder. Its been speculated to be AR-Comp but not verified as far as I know.

The 175's go at about 42grs of 4064.

The data sheet above is actually M118 Special Ball but Federal was running Lake City at the time and I think it was the Marines that moved the M118 to duplicate FGMM. There's a history on Sniper's Hide.

I got some Winchester match 168 grain yesterday from Kings Firearms in Columbia Tennessee on gun broker 229.99 a case of 200 rounds

My duplication recipe, at least the accuracy part, was 40.5 grains of Varget or Shooters World Precision, in FC case using 175 grain Berger OTM AND Rem 9.5 primers at 2.80" COAL. Shoots .3" in my AR10.

I matched the 168 GM Match several years ago. 42gr of IMR 4895, Fed 210M primer, Fed brass, 168gr SMK. COAL 2.8"
iMR4064, R15, and Varget, all 41-43gr will produce similar results, but the IMR4895 was most accurate in my rifle and matched factory velocity.
Shown factory and IMR 4896 reload at 100 and 300 yards in my Rem 700 Milspec 308

Snipershide and accurate shooter have tons of information on the 308 fgmm duplication. To try to paraphrase it instead of sending you to the source would be doing you a disservice.

Go Google it up and take good notes.
