Cranking up the RPM

in 416 the neck is already thinned to .011" per side, for the .458 it will thin a bit more ... but with total of .022" + .458" = .480 which is the 10 thou over the OD at the top of body/shoulder junction ... you can improve it .010" leaving you with a straight walled case, could make it run in a CRF action and headspace on the case mouth

458 would be STRAIGHT WALL making it legal in states like ohio and indiana
think 450 bushmaster on steroids and with bear creek ammunition already cranking 2570 in the short case length from 240 grain 452 boolits in 458 and real boolits your talking big big gains and velocity in states restricted to straight walls for hunting

Honest question here...would a .458" work? I know it'd be awful close to straight wall which combined with a rebated rim sounds straight up unreliable but I ran the numbers on neck thickness and assuming the same neck thickness as your 416 creation it gives us .480" on a case that can be blown straight to .500". Can a meaningful shoulder or ghost shoulder be made from .02" (about half a millimeter?)
450 bushmaster is same case cut down from the 284 winchester case at basically the shoulder to case joint parent so yes it would be straight wall add that missing 3/4 inch of powder column and you would have 1 massive fun caliber

Hi Lads.
The rpm is described as a lengthened .284 case. Could a chamber be cut by simply running a 6.5x284 reamer to the required extra depth?

If you did that the back of your chamber would be too big. People run reamers in .100 deep on many cases and it seems to work. But a case with very little body taper would be best to do it in. I made a super Creed by running reamer .110 too deep and it makes the back of the chamber .002 too big. It doesn't hurt anything but you can see the swell at the bottom of the case above the web. The Creed case has small body taper.

The issue would be that the straight wall restrictions make the case maximum 1.8". Now if you're just talking about something fun and cool to shoot, I completely agree.

The 45 raptor maximizes what can be done with straight wall cartridges and stay legal. Honestly, it's overkill for deer.

Exit hole with 250 maker t rex bullet.

Brit if you did it that way you would have to mod your dies also. On the Super Creed I can use regular Creed dies just set up higher in the press.

Just se rough measurements shows you would be about .003 to .004 to big in back. A neck sizing rpm die might work with it done that way.
