As some of you know, I've been on this forum and have been pretty active on it for the past seven years. I'm 24 now but started on this site when I was still a teenager. I have learned so much over the years from this forum and the members on here. Shooting has become one of the biggest things in my life and is by far my main hobby. I try to share my experiences and the knowledge I've gained over the years to everybody I can. I love this hobby and I love to help others.

One of the biggest dreams of mine has always been to work at a custom rifle shop or have my own shop. I have studied guns, reloading, shooting, and everything that goes into it since I was a little boy. I am a machinist by trade and have gone to school for machining and have been working as a machinist for the past few years.

Well I'm so happy to say that my obsession of precision shooting and my experience and love for machining has paid off big time! I have officially been hired as a full time machinist for Pierce Engineering! I have been working here for a couple weeks now. I really thought hard about this post and I'm not one to brag or toot my own horn, but I'm so excited for this new opportunity and job. Everything I have worked for and studied in my life has earned me this position. I'm so happy to be machining the components for Pierce custom actions. Like I said before, I love to help others and give back to the shooting and hunting community, so making custom actions and working in a shop that builds custom rifles is a true dream job of mine!

Congrats! That should be an awesome job! Ryan knows his stuff! Machining, designing, prototyping... fun stuff. I'm happy to get paid for it... on my own stuff at least. My day job gets old.

I'm considering you are younger, I would advise you to not take any positions that require you to sign a Non Compete that extends past you parting with the company! If you are young and driven you may want to set out on your own and this would make it almost impossible!

This is Pierce Engineering who builds their own custom actions and rifles and is owned by John Pierce. Ryan Pierce owns Piercision rifles but he does build amazing rifles as well. Thank you very much for the advice and encouragement!

Congrats. I've heard that you never work a day in your life when you love what you do for a living. I enjoyed my career of 35 years and still really enjoyed it the last day I worked. I didn't retire counting the days down because I could have easily stayed and continued working and enjoying it. When it's time, it's time. That's why I retired. Next time I stop in John's shop ( who also retired), I'll say hi. Since retiring I don't get into the lansing area as much. I have a gunsmith real close now but do miss stopping in talking to John and seeing his newest idea's and projects. Good luck and keep striving for excellence. Sounds like your there already.
