I have a LIKE NEW condition 2 year old Swarovski 6-18x50 X5 Scope 1/4" Non-Illuminated BMR reticle. On a recent Leopard hunt, at dusk, and in poor light, I realized that my eyes are aging and I had trouble seeing the reticle. I now realize that I SHOULD have bought the Illuminated reticle initially! Aging!!

The other day I reached out to SWFA to enquire about a swap for a new X5 with the illuminated reticle model that I want, however, they really low-balled me with a trade in offer of only $1,300....and that is also giving them the $250 aluminum Swarovski scope covers. I paid almost $3,000 for the scope only 2+- years ago and it is in pretty much new condition, so I decided to turn down the offer.

That said, I was wondering if any of you know where I can swap my scope for the illuminated model? I don't know of any other business who does swaps.

I do realize that any business needs to make a profit but the SWFA offer is pretty ridiculous.

Any guidance of suggestions that you can throw my way would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of distance to the leopard are we talking about ? A 6x scope seems a bit high power for that. At a lower the power with the same size objective will give you much more light and better ability to see the reticle.

The blind was about 80 yards from the bait with the light source being a red rheostat light. At 6 power the crosshair/aiming-point was hard for me to pick up. No fault of the scope...I'm 58 and lately I am noticing that my sight isn't what it used to be

I struggled shooting thru a wrought iron fence with posts 4" apart, I would tilt the reticle so it wasn't vertical like the posts. It helped but didn't solve the problem so I got a cheap illuminated scope but it was too bright and washed out the whole picture. Make sure your has good brightness settings(swaro does) . A good feature in the level settings is 1-off-2off-3-off so you don't have to go from setting 1 all the way thru the highest levels as it will blind you
