Very, Their recommendations are spot on
I agree 100%. Even if twist is only off 1/2 to 3/4" it will make a difference. Go by what is on the Hammer website or you will waste your time and $

I think the twist recommendations come from their tests in expansion media. If you have too slow of a twist the bullet doesn't perform as it should. Lighter bullets in the hammer line work quite well, you will get more velocity and they are not going to come apart. I wouldn't compare them to lead core bullets weight wise.
I've used both the 92 and 98gr Hammers in mine (also 1:10) with excellent results. The bullet construction gives excellent speed and performance . When I rebarrel I'll be going faster twist...
How do they perform on game?
Absolutely deadly. Through and through, good exit vent, massive internal damage. I'm in AL, so it's whitetails. Furthest I've killed so far is 248 yds - no problem. Can't shoot really far here unless on a field. Killed 17 last year (depredation) and several of those with the 2506AI.

I have been using the 7mm 143gr Hammer Hunters in a 7SAUM XP-100 with 1-8 twist the last two years when we go to WV. Last year I took a doe at 300 yds that ran many 15 yds and piled up. It was a small doe so I didn't think it was a real good test. This year I took two doe one at 310 and one at 500. I was worried about performance at 500 because they are down to 1941fps but it did just fine. Both deer this year were nice doe and both were down where they were shot. All 3 had extensive internal damage to the lungs.
I have been going with faster twists an moving toward the monos figuring lead free will be mandatory country wide given the boneheads that will be running things. So far I think the Hammers are a very good choice.

What you are reading is with respect to the newest hammer bullet design, the Absolute Hammer.
The Hammer hunter and Shock hammer are a more conventional design, and behave more like bullets of like weight
The reason the Absolute behaves differently is that the nose is a little smaller in diameter. As a result, it doesn't engrave on the rifling - only the 'pdr' drive bands do. This novel design significantly reduces engraving pressure on ignition and bearing surface as the bullet travels down the barrel. As a result, under the right conditions, higher speeds can be obtained.
